The Day the Crayons Quit and The Day the Crayons Came Home by Drew Daywalt (Author) and Oliver Jeffers (Illustrator) #everycrayoncounts

The Day the Crayons Came Home

On our yearly vacation to Folly Beach, SC we always plan a day to spend in Charleston to visit a few shops, enjoy delicious food and perhaps take a carriage ride.  Back in 2013 on our Charleston trip we went to a bookstore in downtown to look for a few books on our list and we found a few we were looking for and we discovered a brand new book, The Day the Crayons Quit by Drew Daywalt {author} and Oliver Jeffers {illustrator}

This is when we learned about this amazing crayon book.  Our oldest daughter found the book in the kids section and read it to her smaller sisters.  They loved the book so much that we bought it.  It was the only one in the store!!  YAY!  We hit the jackpot!

This book has been read to our children so many times and when it’s been story time at their school it is THE book that we take.  The kids love it and we do too.  It’s hilarious and such an original idea for a book.

The Day the Crayons Quit

The Day the Crayons Quit is a book that all kids should own or at least it should be a book that every kid has had read to them.  It’s the perfect book to be read out loud with funny voices and funny faces.  BEST BOOK EVER!

For the past year we have enjoyed The Day the Crayons Quit so much and we were super excited when we were asked to review The Day the Crayons Came Home because we were ALREADY fans.

Duncan's friends, the Crayons, tell him all about their woes from having their paper peeled off to friendly arguments about what color the sun really is.  The crayons discuss his coloring techniques - how well he stays in the lines to using his favorite color all the time.  Even the forgotten crayon writes his very own letter to Duncan.

{Yay, a brand new crayon book!}

The Day the Crayons Came Home

When The Day the Crayons Came Home came in the mail I hid it so I could surprise Superdad and the babies at bedtime so we could read the book together.

We laughed and laughed together.  Another HIT with all of us!  So funny.  Another original idea for an amazing book.

The Crayons are back from amazing adventures making their way home to Duncan.  {No Crayon gets left behind.}  In this new book the broken crayon gets put back together with the help from a friend and one crayon turns super hero.  As each crayon tells their journey via postcards from far off places with pyramids all the way to the family dryer.  Life isn’t dull {pun intended} with these Crayons.
