What's the best present you ever received?

Ready Set Go: Set a timer for 20 minutes and write about the best present you ever received. (Don't overthink these time-sensitive prompts. Just set the timer, write however much you can write in the time allotted, finish the post, and hit publish.)}

The irony isn’t lost on me that I’m supposed to set a timer for twenty minutes and then write about the best present I’ve ever received, you'll see my amusement when you hear my answer.  I could write about my FAVORITE Jem and the Holograms dolls or Barbie and the Rockers dolls or my favorite red winter jacket that I’ve had since high school but I’m not.

I could tell you the best presents have been my children.  My two husbands.  My family.  My friends.  My pets.  My books.  My Yarn.  They have been the best presents I’ve ever received but they haven’t been my favorite.

The best present{s} I have ever received is time

Time has allowed me to be a wife, a mother, a daughter, a sister, a friend, a book freak and it’s given me a chance to roll around in a tub full of yarn.  Without time then I wouldn’t be here.

Time has given me the chance to live a wonderful life.  A life full of meaning.

The Adventures of Supermom®Corny huh?  Perhaps I gave this writing subject too much time.  I should have written about coffee.  How much coffee can I drink in twenty minutes?  How many pages in a book can I read in twenty minutes?  How many times can I tell my children that I love them in twenty minutes?  How many times can I kiss my husband in twenty minutes?  How many times can I make my granddaughter smile in twenty minutes?  Or can I walk this mile in twenty minutes?

It’s all relative.  The best present we’ve ever received.  I’m sure it changes daily if not weekly or monthly.

I guess right now my favorite present would be from God.  He gave me more time with my Mamaw.  After she had her stroke in March I wasn’t sure that I’d have that time with her.  My mortality was right there in my face and it terrified me.  But we were given more time.

So yes, Alex, my answer is, “What is more time?”

Then my second best present would be those Jem and the Holograms!

I’M JOKING!!!

{maybe}

It would be my four children.

My husband.

My dog.

My yarn.

My books.

The cast from Gossip Girl.

James Spader.

James Spader.

{Oh, did I type him twice?}

My Etch A Sketch.

My Speak & Spell.

Presents are so material!  Haven’t you noticed I’m not that kind of gal.  The only “gifts” I’ve listed have been childhood toys.  Except James Spader, he’s an actor I’ve never even met.  Or Gossip Girl.  That’s just been a TIME suck for me lately as I’ve been watching it on Netflix.

{amused laugh here}

I’ve never been someone who collects things.  I have books and yarn around me.  Do kids count?  If so then I have four.

I’m terrible at writing about my favorite present.

I still choose my first answer though.

TIME.

Like, I’m not going to get back these twenty minutes and now my coffee is warm!  Yummy!

What has been your favorite present so far in your life?

It's great reading about what things are important in your life and how these gifts have impacted you. Take a look at my NaBloPoMo post at http://staceyaltamirano.com/2015/06/01/nablopomo-1-a-good-gift/
and let me know what you think!

I don't even need twenty minutes! It's sleep! SLEEP SLEEP SLEEP

As a single mom of three children, two of which have special needs, I never get enough sleep. So, about once a month my boyfriend invites us all over to spend the night. He gets up in the morning with the kids, letting me sleep in, and makes everyone breakfast.
