Comes right to your door!

My Green FillsI must admit that when it comes to my laundry detergent I have always preferred the name brand with an amazing scent.  I always “assumed” that my clothes had to have a perfumed scent to be clean but I was wrong.

A valuable lesson was learned.

Recently I was asked to try out My Green Fills and I will admit that I was skeptical.

100% Natural?
Concentrated formula?
Cold water formula?

The last laundry bottle I will ever own because I reuse it each time My Green Fills are delivered to MY HOUSE?

No more running to the grocery store!

Sounds too good to be true.

Fired Up! Creative LoungeI had the best girls night out with friends at one of my favorite places in downtown Asheville.

Fired Up! Creative Lounge!

Fired Up! Creative Lounge isn’t just for taking the kids to paint pottery, it’s also perfect for hanging with the ladies drinking mimosas and eating snacks while painting pottery and trying glass fusing for the first time.

Here are some pictures from our fun night.  Enjoy.  :)

The Adventures of Supermom®

Just think I finished reading Ulysses on June 20, 2014 and just eight days ago I finished a comic book called Fables.

A woman with many tastes.

My husband is the one who mentioned the above about reading Ulysses and then the comic book.

It happens.

In all honesty finished a book a week ago that I cannot stop thinking about.

The Magus by John Fowles.

I read the 600+ page book in 1 ½ weeks.  I just couldn’t put it down.  I couldn’t wait to see how the book ended.

Then I got to the end and well, it ended.  I was left thinking, “SO?”.

I won’t go into detail because I don’t want to spoil the book for anyone because I know that you will read the book because I recommended it.  Right?

What will I read now?

I have Out Of Africa on my nightstand and I’m reading it on a regular basis.  {My bf is reading it with me too.}

Other books on my nightstand:

Outlander by Diana Gabaldon
The Brothers Karamazov by Fyodor Dostoyevsky

**NEW ** Febreze Laundry Odor Eliminator {all about}

Febreze Odor EliminatorThere are lots of odor eliminators coming out these days because EVERYONE loves to have fresh smelling laundry!  Why not stick to a brand you know and trust?  Like Febreze!  I love Febreze and use it all over the house!  It’s a great product and since I have four kids I’m always trying to cover up a stinky smell.

Know what I mean??  Especially having a son who is 17 years old.  I won’t even talk about the stinky scents coming from his room.

I was super glad that Febreze sent me a couple of samples and a coupon for a free bottle.  I’ve used the samples already and I really really enjoyed the fresh scent of my clothes and towels.  There’s nothing like a clean fresh smelling towel right after a hot bath.

More about this amazing in-wash odor eliminator

Febreze Odor EliminatorUse NEW Febreze In-Wash Odor Eliminator with your detergent to eliminate – not just mask – the TOUGHEST laundry odors in just one wash. NOW with 3x more freshening power!

Febreze In-Wash Odor Eliminator is a laundry aid that works in the washer with detergents to eliminate odors such as perspiration, cooking oil, grease, motor oil, pets, garden soil and mildew from virtually any washable fabric. While detergents clean the soils Febreze Laundry Odor Eliminator cleans away odors that get trapped in fabrics.

**I wasn't paid to post this.  I was sent two small samples and a coupon for a FREE bottle so I could tell you all about it.**

All these finales. What did you watch? MAY INCLUDE SPOILERS! {AND what will I watch over the summer?}

I waited and waited and wondered and wondered a bit more how The Blacklist would end?  Would our questions be answered?   Or would MY questions be answered?

The Blackist James Spader

I’m not sure how I feel about the finale?  I have more questions?!?!?

Why was Red there during the fire….remember we saw his burn scars??
How did Red know her parents?
And why was it up to him to protect her from memories?
Will Lizzie and Tom get back together while she’s on the run?

AND how far into the future will the new season start off??

Or do we have to see them on the run?

Best Brownies Ever!

Lovely O was having a sleepover and they wanted me to make brownies so I started making some brownies.

I didn’t have any cocoa powder.

I couldn’t let them down.

So I used some instant chocolate pudding mix in place of cocoa powder.

Chocolate Brownies with White Chocolate Chips

They were the best BROWNIES I’ve ever had.

In fact the girls call them “The Winners”.

When your kid runs away.

I wouldn’t let Ninja Gurl have any candy one day so she said she was running away.

When I asked her where she’d go she responded,

“I don’t know.  I will go knock on some doors.”.

Insert A LOT of laughter here.

Thank you NG for giving me lots of great blogging material and most of all thank you for being AMAZING.

Poppy Drops {A Review}

Poppy Drops

Recently Poppy Drops sent some goodies to the house for us to review.  My girls LOVE their goodies, a Perfume Stick and Pierce-Free Earrings.  I kept the Cherry Blossom Lip Luster all-natural lip balm for myself because I cannot stop using it.  {smacking my lips}

The girls had so much fun with the pierce-free earrings.  They can be used in so many fun ways and they do last for several days.  So much fun.

Lovely O loves her perfume stick and carries it with her everywhere.  She’s been wearing my perfume for about a year now and I have enjoyed sharing mine with her but she is super excited to have her own now.  Perfect for a ten year old!  And a seven year old, when she shares with her little sister.

Now to me!

I LOVE THE LIP BALM!  I’m always on the prowl for the perfect one.  One that makes my lips feel kissable and I want it to last.  I am a busy mom so I don’t have time to apply a lip balm every hour or so.  I am so glad that Poppy Drops sent me one to review.

Summer Punch {A Cocktail}
Created by Michelle of The Adventures up Supermom®

Voga Italia Wines

VOGA Italia Wines emailed me asking if I would create a cocktail using their yummy wine to enter into a contest.  I’m not one to enter contests or ask people to vote in a contest because it’s not my thing however I was intrigued.  I emailed that I would try so they sent me some wine.

{WINE in the MAIL!!!  Like Christmas all over again!}

My first attempt didn’t work.

So I waited a day and thought more about what I would want in the perfect summer cocktail.

The Adventures of Supermom®

Trust me, I’ve had a basil cocktail before and it was delicious!

Plus, I grow basil to use in my Basil Chocolate Friendship Bread.

Then it hit me.

Oh my goodness.

So I set out to make the perfect cocktail with VOGA Italia Wines that included fresh basil and chocolate.  The fun part about creating a drink is the potential to get tipsy.  {nodding}

So on the second day I ended up with the perfect cocktail with a secret PUNCH.  TO make sure that it was perfected I had to wait another day to let the tipsiness wear off.  {giggle}

The third day, yesterday, I made it again and I LOVE IT!

I call it Summer Punch {A Cocktail} because it does have a secret “punch”.  I’d stop at two, drink responsibly.

Summer Punch

4 fluid ounces chilled VOGA Italia Moscato
2 fluid ounces chocolate flavored vodka
6 fresh basil leaves
chocolate syrup
ice - if desired
basil - for garnish

Muddle the 6 basil leaves with VOGA Italia Moscato.  Strain mixture to remove crushed basil leaves.  Add the chocolate vodka.  Stir.  Take any glass and dip rim into chocolate syrup.  Pour cocktail into glass.

Garnish with basil leaves and add ice if desired.  For an extra treat add some chocolate syrup in the bottom on your glass.

The Adventures of Supermom®

I want to thank VOGA Italia Wines for inviting me to create a fun cocktail with one of their wines because I now have a FAVORITE drink!!!

**I was not paid to post this and the opinions expressed belong entirely to me, Michelle Lee.  I was sent FREE bottles of wine to use for my cocktail.**

Rustic Crust
{A delicious review.}

Rustic CrustRustic Crust invited the Supermom family to have pizza night on them!  They mailed us a box of crusts {even gluten free} and pizza sauce!  YUMMY! I picked up some pepperoni and cheese when I was out at the grocery store for our night.

Rustic Crust

SUPERMOM TIP:  Pizza night is perfect for leftovers!!!  Two days before pizza night we had enjoyed a cookout so I had grilled onions, grilled pineapple, grilled asparagus and grilled BBQ chicken all for toppings!

With two adults and four kids we can never agree on pizza toppings so I had to make several to please everyone.

Mother’s Day Post

Happy Mother's Day This was the first year I didn’t have all of my kids under the same roof.  It didn’t hit me until after the day had past that my mother didn't return my call and I realized that I’d forgotten to call my great aunt to wish her a Happy Mother’s Day.

{Let me be quick to mention that I saw my oldest daughter and her family last Friday and I gave my Mamaw and Great Aunt cards that week as well and my mother called me to thank me for her gift.}

So the actual day was quiet.

I woke up to two giggly girls wanting to cook me breakfast and have me open their gifts.  It was awesome.  English muffins with butter and an apple peeled and sliced by daddy.  Just what I wanted.  While they were off getting ready for church in their new summer clothes I drifted back to sleep only to wake up again at 11:30 am to a very quiet house.

It was nice to walk around in my nightgown feeling my bare feet on the hardwood floor holding a hot cup of coffee.  This walk led me to my porch.  I watched a mommy bird feed her babies and I just “was”.

I can look around and know that this is home and that there are children that live here.  Without stepping over toys I can see a house full of love.  It’s the fingerprints on the walls, the sticky spot on the floor and the mysterious spot on the couch and it’s the floor that always needs to be vacuumed and the clothes that need to be washed.

There’s so much to being a mother.  A behind the scenes of where we will run in our undies trying to find our coffee and when we use spit to clean their faces and when we chase them around the house spraying them with a water hose for tricking you.

I’ve even unplugged the phone cord from the wall turning the cordless phone off for a teen talking PAST bedtime.

I’ve flushed the toilet to get a teen out of the shower.

I’ve lied when asked if there are anymore cookies!!

AND HELL YES I have hidden the last damn ice cream sandwich for myself!!

I’ve let my kids make their own almond butter sandwich for dinner to go with whatever else they could reach in the kitchen.

{hanging head} AND on a busy day, wiping them off with a wipe and changing their undies counts as a BATH.

I want to thank my children for forgiving me for cold showers, no phone, pancakes for dinner, hiding the last cookie and perhaps forgetting to leave out the “Tooth Fairy” money and making me feel like the best mom in the world.  I guess I haven’t screwed up too badly.

I also want to add that I’m sorry to the one that I lost that they weren’t here to celebrate with me and their siblings.  I do wonder what you would have looked like.  Would you have freckles like me?   Would you have your daddy’s blue eyes or my green ones?  Would you have been a boy or a girl?

You’d be getting ready for finals and you’d be graduating high school in a few short weeks.  Would you have gone off for college or would you have gone to UNCA with your sister?

Know that you would have been loved by so many.  I look forward to meeting you when the time comes.

{clearing throat}

So this past Mother’s Day I hope you were able to lie about bedtime so you had that little bit of extra quiet time.

The TEN Best Things to Buy at Trader Joe’s
{SAYS The Adventures of Supermom®}

Trader Joe's Michelle Lee Asheville

Before Trader Joe’s came to Asheville, North Carolina we would hit a few of them when we traveled out of town like Charlotte and Greenville.  It was such a novelty and we had to try this and we had to try that and that and then that again.  It was rather cute.  Kind of Fresh Market cute, a store where you can’t buy all your groceries from type cute.

Then it wore off...the cuteness...when one came to Asheville.  It’s even on MY side of town but I still only venture in one a month!!!  {that’s all you really need}  I love going to Trader Joe’s but the newness has worn off and I only go in for a few things.  I have compiled a list of TEN things that you most definitely will find in my cart if you catch me at TJ’s.

I’ll go ahead and tell you my FAVORITE thing first to buy so I can get it off my chest and move on to the rest of the list!!!! {I have a collage of pictures below so you can see the products.}

The Kitchen Challenge Wrapped Up!
How many days of food do you have in your kitchen?

The Adventures of Supermom®

You thought I’d forgotten about this, didn’t you?  I’ve been keeping track on a little notebook in the kitchen.  I really loved doing this challenge because I learned that I could make lots of great meals with not a lot in the kitchen.  It sort of makes “hoarding with coupons” silly to me because I’ve liked NOT having so much in the kitchen.  So much that goes wasted because they’ve gone past their expiration.

My Kitchen Challenge has sort of winded down because we’ve had a cookout {where we bought YUMMY food} and I made a Trader Joe’s run last week.  Fear not because we still have an abundance of instant grits, toasted coconut pancake mix, black eyed peas and friendship bread starter in the kitchen.

When I last typed up a post I was on Day 22.

Moving on.

Day 23 - We ended up having O’Charley’s for lunch so we had leftovers for dinner.  Me with my four children and granddaughter.  {Yes, I know I am blessed.}

Another MRI, Physical Therapy and an appointment with Neurology at Duke

Chimney Rock, North Carolina
Chimney Rock with all four of my kids.  Ninja Gurl is behind Hannah.  You can barely see her pink shoe!

Yeah yeah yeah I’ve been down for the count since June of 2014.  I was coming back from a LIVE TV appearance in Greenville, South Carolina and I had the babies with me along with my Mamaw and Great Aunt.  I kept getting what felt like a cramp in my right leg, below my knee.  It was very aggravating and I even took my shoe off while driving.  I remember it hurting the whole ride home.  My Mamaw volunteered to drive BUT she was 83 at the time and I chose to take my chances with a leg cramp and cruise control.

The next morning, a Saturday, I couldn’t move and found myself going to my doctor.  Thankfully they have Saturday hours!  It was awful.  I can remember just sobbing in bed because my back hurt so badly.  No matter what I did - I suffered whether it was out loud or in silent.  I tend to suffer in silent more than out loud UNLESS I’ve had ENOUGH then I tend to get grumpy.  Yeah, sorry about that to those who have been on that end of my anger.  I promise that it’s not you, it’s me.  {gentle smile}

During all of this I’ve had numerous tests - x-rays, MRIs, CTs and even an emergency room visit that ended up being a kidney stone.  I’ve tried chiropractics, rolfing, yoga and physical therapy.  Currently I am going to physical therapy and I walk a mile through the hood a couple of times a week.

There's a lot of things that I am unable to do or NOT SUPPOSED to do.  Yeah yeah, there is a difference.

I’m not supposed to bend or twist or twist while bending.  The dishwasher is a HUGE NO NO and so is laundry.  Putting the clothes in the washer, putting the clothes in the dryer from the washer and then getting the clothes from the dryer.  You get the drift.  Bending over to pick up toys or to straighten the pillows on the couch will get me fussed at.  {innocent look}

Pentel Review
Who doesn’t love a good pen or pencil?

PentelI’m a pen writing freak and everyone that you talk to HAS a favorite pen and they will search all over town to find it!  They may not admit it BUT they will.  I LOVE trying new pens and mechanical pencils too!  All these great new inks and all these great bright colors!

That’s why when Shoplet sends out those emails about reviewing pens and pencils and mechanical pencils I AM ALL IN!

I see erasable ink or I see a hot pink pen and I drool wanting to get my hands on them!  I’ve found some great products through Shoplet!  I won’t even let my kids touch my supply of ink or lead.  {insert evil laugh here}

This time I was able to try out the Pentel EnerGel Alloy RT Retractable Liquid Gel Pen, Pentel Vicuna Retractable Ballpoint Pens and Pentel Twist-Erase III Mechanical Pencil.  I cannot pick a favorite because they all wrote wonderfully.  That’s not corny because you know what I mean.  Smooth on paper, it felt good to hold, strong color and an amazing price.  There’s nothing NOT to love about these products.  Except that mommy won’t share!!!!

Yay!  Baby toys!  Just when I thought that I was through that stage for a little bit - I become a GRANDMOTHER!  Funny how things work out.

I love being a grandmother.

I love baby clothes and I love looking at baby toys!  It’s all so new to me even though Ninja Gurl is seven years old.

I’m so glad that Yookidoo sent my sweet sweet baby a Lights ‘N’ Music FUN BALL because she loves it!  It was really fun watching her with the baby toy.

French Press + Sweater Dress = Frenchie
{humor me, it's easier}

Wooly Clouds CrochetingI'm a big coffee drinker and if you go out and about with me then you know that I LOVE coffee.  Coffee at breakfast, coffee after lunch WITH pie, coffee as a treat to warm up my cold bones and perhaps another cup of coffee after the house is tidied back up with a small treat.  A Fudge Round counts as a small treat BTW.

Superdad gave me a french press for Christmas a couple of years ago and I loved it and used it with only one complaint, the coffee didn't stay hot enough until I was ready for that second cup.

So it sat alone in my kitchen sad that it was never used.  Poor little french press watched the world go by from her spot on the kitchen counter, never to be used.

I decided to make her a sweater dress.  Yes my french press is a female.  Got a problem with that?  {stern glare}

I used some yarn from Wooly Clouds Crocheting and made these sexy ties for the back to make pretty bows.  My french press is all warm a cozy now.  I call the “sweater dress” Frenchie now because koozie just didn't do it for me.
