I'm just not Supermom anymore....

I think I’m just worn out with blogging. I’ve been around a long time and I think I have given all the advice that I know. You firs...

This week {and last} we've had icy weather and snow.  People all over were fussing about snow and us getting it.

snow day

Yada Yada Yada.

I love the snow.  It's beautiful and fun and beautiful but it does cause migraines.  Some way the sun reflects off the snow and bounces back into my head feels like torture.  I can feel it right behind my eyes.  It hurts so bad that it causes my ears to even ache and neck.  SO with this snow came not only a snowman made by Ninja Gurl but a terrible migraine as well.

I think banging my head against the wall would have been like a pillow fight compared to this migraine.  I shut the blinds all over the house and had ice packs, etc...  I spent Thursday in bed in torture just wanting to poke my eyes out.   Lord a Mercy, I wouldn't wish a migraine on my own worst enemy...if I even had one.

Friday morning I saw my lovely psychologist so that meant I had to leave the house and guess what I did?  I had to wear my sunglasses the whole time I was out today.  I did look rather funny walking at Walgreens waiting for my prescription to be ready for pick-up but you gotta do what you gotta do.

So the next time we get some snow and ice and want to fuss please remember that it is WINTER.  I called a bad winter this summer and now, perhaps, it's coming true.  Sorry about that.

DO you want to build a snowman?

I Tried Until I Almost Died
From Anxiety and Frustration to Rest and Relaxation
Written by Sandra McCollom
Foreword by Dave Meyer and Joyce Meyer

Oh my goodness!!!!  I am so happy that I was asked to look over this book!  I have been dealing with anxiety and depressed for sixteen years.  A very long time.  Too long.  I have been on all sorts of medicine and sometimes it has helped and sometimes it has not.  I have reached bottom and when I thought it couldn't get any worse, it did.  I can relate so I am thankful that Sandra is sharing her story with us.

I have this book beside me right now to start reading today when the house is quiet.

I Tried Until I Almost Died

I Tried Until I Almost Died
From Anxiety and Frustration to Rest and Relaxation
Written by Sandra McCollom
Foreword by Dave Meyer and Joyce Meyer

Tired of trying to measure up?
Trade your anxiety and frustration for rest and relaxation.

Many of us believe that in order to please God, we have to be perfect. It’s an easy lie to buy into. In a culture that emphasizes accomplishment and ever-higher goals, we feel driven to do more, achieve more, be more. And we get caught up in the unforgiving treadmill of self-imposed rules, believing that we should, we need to, we must.

The result? Anger, frustration, and anxiety that keep us far away from the life of peace that Jesus promised.

For years, Sandra McCollom lived in this trap. Finally worn out from striving for perfection but constantly feeling like a failure, one day she prayed in desperation, begging God for help. God answered Sandra by setting her on a life-changing journey to discover the riches of His grace.

In I Tried Until I Almost Died, Sandra shares how she left behind her burden of anxiety and fear and shows you how to experience for yourself the freedom of trusting solely in the perfecting power of God’s grace.

About the Author:

Sandra thoroughly enjoys spending time with her family as well as reading, writing, CrossFit training, and homeschooling her girls. Visit her website at www.SandraMccollom.com.

Snow, snow, snow, books, yarn, The Vampire Diaries, snow, snow, kidney stone, crocheting.....

Good Morning Supermom junkies.

Have you got snow?  We do.  Plus I hear more is on the way.

Last week the kids MISSED all week of school due to mostly ice and so it begins again.

Life is going crazy smooth over here considering....

I was in the emergency room again due to a kidney stone.  I had to drink a liter of contrast within an hour that was mixed into a fruity fake sugar drink.  Wasn't too bad going in but VERY rough going out.  My body has felt like a chemistry set and has sounded like one too.  Just ask the people that I live with.  HA HA!

What the Fork Are You Eating?
An Action Plan for Your Pantry and Plate
By Stefanie Sacks MS, CNS, CDN
Foreword by: Kathie Madonna Swift MS, RDN, LDN

I must admit that I haven't even had a chance to read or look over this book because as soon as it came my husband grabbed it.  We are very food conscious and do our best to put the best food available in our bodies.

We shop organic, we shop local, we even grow our own food.

It's always good to expand our knowledge and eat well.

So, what the fork are you eating?

What the Fork Are You Eating?
An Action Plan for Your Pantry and Plate
By Stefanie Sacks MS, CNS, CDN
Foreword by: Kathie Madonna Swift MS, RDN, LDN

It’s labeled “natural,” “grass-fed,” or “free-roaming;” yet it might be anything but. It’s time to find out what you’re actually eating…

When your groceries are labeled “low-fat,” “sugar-free,” and even “natural” and “antibiotic-free,” it’s easy to assume that you’re making healthy choices. Yet even some of those seemingly wholesome offerings contain chemical preservatives, pesticides, and artificial flavors and coloring that negatively affect your health. In What the Fork Are You Eating?, a practical guide written by certified chef and nutritionist Stefanie Sacks, MS, CNS, CDN, we learn exactly what the most offensive ingredients in our food are and how we can remove (or at least minimize) them in our diets. Sacks gives us an aisle-by-aisle rundown of how to shop for healthier items and create simple, nutritious, and delicious meals, including fifty original recipes.

The Blue Journal: An Explosive Blend Of Suspense, Intrigue And Erotica by L. T. Graham
{I love a good book!}

The Blue JournalCritics agree The Blue Journal (Seventh Street Books, 01/06/15), by L.T. Graham, is a sexy, solid mystery. Kindling the blaze is marriage, infidelity and divorce; fueling the fire is a private journal titled Sexual Rites.

When Elizabeth Knoebel is found dead of a gunshot wound, the investigation is turned over to Lieutenant Anthony Walker. Formerly a New York City cop, Walker is a man with his own issues, who now serves on the police force of an affluent community in Fairfield County, Connecticut. He lives among the privileged gentry, where he understands that appearances are often far removed from reality.

As Walker untangles the steamy secrets of Elizabeth's memoir, the threads begin to converge on her psychotherapist. He becomes convinced that Elizabeth's killer is another of Randi Conway's patients. But which one?

About the Author

Life these days.
The {not so} Adventures of Supermom

Blogging these days is difficult for me.  Difficult because I have been dealing with this back thing and at times in excruciating pain.

How many times can you read that I feel awful?

Not a lot I am sure.

I know that it's hard on my husband to hear “rough” all the time for me.

Sadly it is rough.  Very rough on me and very depressing.

The simple task of cooking a meal can make me cry.  Last night it was a bad pain night for me and I sat up quietly surfing the web while my husband was sound asleep beside me.

I was reading about Bob Simon dying in a car crash, making a BitStrip and catching up with people on Facebook by reading their status updates.  I had pillows all around me trying to get comfy.  At one point I wanted more water but couldn't get up to get it and I wasn't going to wake Superdad to get it.

Today I managed to make the girls lunch and get them to school, then I crocheted some on a project.  More like crochet, measure, unravel, crochet, measure, unravel until it was perfect.  That's one thing I can control so I do.

Then I clicked around on Netflix trying to find another show to binge watch.  A new past time.  My new past time since June.  Superdad will tease me about the hours I have spent on Netflix but in all honesty it has helped me forget the pain that I am in.  It has allowed me a moment to laugh at a corny joke or try to play detective and solve the crime.

I did try to watch the third season of House of Cards since they had the mix up but I missed it!

Oh well, guess I have to wait a few more weeks for them to really release it this time.

I've tried to read a few books but I haven't mastered crocheting while reading just yet.  That's what I should be working on!  Reading while crocheting without missed a stitch!  But I'm good at unraveling and crocheting again so would it really matter?

I could always dress Kitty and Sophie up for pictures but even that bored me.

OH OH, I could even read the online gossip of Sister Wives but that even bored me already too.

So, while the girls and boy are in school and my husband is at work I am finding an outlet, my outlet, to just get through the day until everyone is at home.  AND hopefully I will not be grouchy by that time and cross with everyone.

This is my life these days.  Tomorrow I see my doctor to go over the MRI that I had Tuesday afternoon.

There you have it.

Tell me how you are?

Eco-Me and Little Twig {A Review}
{This is where I brag about products!}

I love it when I am able to try products that are natural – without a million ingredients in a bottle.  With awesome names like Eco-Me and Little Twig how could I NOT want to try them??  The box included a few products to try in our house, two were for a baby, lotion and body wash, so I sent them with my daughter to use on her newborn daughter while I kept the dish soap because I am always washing something in the kitchen.

Is that a good thing?  I tease!  Now I don't have to worry about harsh ingredients while I keep my kitchen all clean and sparkly.

All three products passed the test!  Two thumbs up!  My daughter LOVES the Little Twig Calming Lavender Baby Wash and Calming Lavender Baby Lotion.  Not only do they leave the baby's skin clean and soft, she knows that they are made with all-natural ingredients and safe for her baby.

I am also happy to share that I LOVE the Eco-Me® Natural Plant Extracts Dish Soap Herbal Mint.  I've been using it the past week and I'm very happy with it.  It keeps my kitchen all clean, I can scrub a pot or just wash my hands if they are dirty.  It cleans very well and the scent is really nice.  You don't have to use a soap with harsh ingredients to do the job.

That's really nice to know.

More about a couple of the products sent to me.

Becoming a Grandmother
{A not so wordless Wednesday.} #WW

My sweet granddaughter is three weeks old today and we are blessed because she is healthy, growing and just downright beautiful.  I've sat down many times to write a post about my experience of being there for her birth.  {I wasn't in the room because it was cesarean.}

Sweet Baby

I'm talking about seeing her for the first time and seeing my daughter as a mother for the first time and seeing part of me in this baby.

I just cannot put it into words.  There are no words to describe the emotions I had and still have every single time I see her and think of her.

Amazing.  Glorious.  Surreal.

Nope, they just don't do it justice.  How does one explain how they feel in words when there are no words to express?

An emotional roller coaster?

When I first saw her I felt like I was in a dream.  I loved her from the first moment I saw her in a very early ultrasound and now that she is here I love her completely times a million and one plus a gazillion more times.

Now that I am a grandmother, a new stage in my life, I am thankful.

I am so blessed.
