I'm a very proud pet owner. They bring me joy just like my children. I love my Sophie and my Kitty. With Christmas coming up please remember the job of taking care of a pet before you add one to your family. Yes, they are cute and furry and fit perfectly in a stocking but after Christmas, you still have a pet to care for, for many years. Also know that when adding a pet to your family that you, the adult, will be caring for the pet and it's not fair to the animal or child/ren if you don't know this and try to place responsibility elsewhere. Said from a wonderful mom with four human babies and two furry ones.

AND....drum roll please....Superdad emailed me this!

A Difference a Year Makes
The Adventures of Supermom® talks about hair.

A year ago today I had just watched V for Vendetta and got a wild hair {as they say} and buzzed all of my hair off.  It was loads of fun!!!  So yeah, I buzzed it all off.

Poof, it was gone.

The Adventures of Supermom®

It shocked EVERYONE!  Even my husband I'm sure and he's used to my shenanigans.  {gentle smile}  I sort of shocked myself too perhaps.  I've always wanted to do it and after watching that movie I felt the urge!  Damn Natalie Portman and her amazing buzzed head!!!!!!

After doing that crazy stunt I thought I'd not cut my hair and let it grow.  I've held true on my quest and I now have hair.  A lot of hair for me.  Superdad has never seen me with hair this long since we've been together all of our twelve years.

Michelle Lee

I hate to admit this out loud since I've always shouted out about how women look all sexy with short sassy hair and that you didn't have to be a woman with long hair to feel sexy.  Now that my hair is longer I feel like I have a “softer” look about me and I do feel more girly and feminine.  I'm sorry ladies but since I've been on both sides, I hate to say this, I feel more “womanly” with my longer hair.

{hanging head in shame}

I like feeling it on my neck and around my ears and I love it when I have to brush it out of my face.  I like it when my husband brushes it out of my face.  His touch.  I LOVE braiding one side to keep the hair out of my face.  ME!!  Braiding my hair!!!  I haven't braided my own hair in a very very long time.  I also love wearing my hair up now.  Using clips and pins to make the perfect look.

Michelle Lee

I also love being able to innocently take a strand of hair between my fingers and twirl it while I'm doing something.  Like reading a book or watching a TV show.

For a solid year I have let my hair grow and I love it.

How do you feel about long hair and short hair?

There are things that your heart never forgets even if your mind does.

My Best FriendThere is a tugging at my heart today.  I've been thinking about this for a week now and at least I am able to think about it now and not cry with sadness.

I lost my best friend Brian on December 21, 1996.

I thought I was going to fade away when I learned of his death.  I remember my mamaw was afraid to tell me because she knew of our bond.

We met in middle school.  One time he wrote me a note asking if we could hold hands while walking to the buses and we did hold hands that day.  We became the best of friends.  I came to love Brian with all my heart like a brother figure.  We always did things together like the movies, talking on the phone, competing over the phone playing Mario Brothers.  We were just Michelle and Brian, who were there for each other for the good times and the bad times.

One time he kissed me (on the mouth with tongue) after we graduated high school and I was so mad at him and I didn't speak to him for days.  I just didn't look at Brian as a love interest he was just Brian my best friend.  He is still my best friend.

Even while married our friendship stayed the same because he was always coming over to hang out and play with H because she was just a baby.  I taught him how to play dominoes so he enjoyed that and I still have those dominoes!  And SCRABBLE, we would play Scrabble at times!!!!!  He’d be the first person I called in the morning and we would keep the phone lines busy with just talking normal chit chat.

So, even though the memory may fade from my mind but my heart never forgets.  I love you Brian.

Best Friends Forever.

A song that I listened to a lot after Brian died:

Tracy Chapman ~ The Promise

If you wait for me
then I'll come for you
Although I've traveled far
I always hold a place for you in my heart

My Favorite Things As A Child, That Santa Brought To Me
{The Adventures of Supermom® Reflects}

While Christmas shopping for my kids I started thinking back to some of my favorite toys that Santa left for me and sadly I realized that my kids would never have the same experiences as I did.  Sure, the times have changed and my kids want what's popular just like I did.

It's just different now.

When I was growing up I played for HOURS with my Etch A Sketch drawing trying to NEVER cross the lines!  Making square after square, so close together, DON'T HIT THE OTHER LINE!!!   Shake shake shake!  All over again!  Twist, twist, twist.

Toys

DON'T CROSS OVER THAT LINE!

{nodding, hours of entertainment}

Yes, I can still get one for the girls but WE ALL know that they'd never sit there for hours {like I did} and draw with it.  RIGHT?

Then there was my beloved Chemistry Set.  Michelle the Mad Scientist, making stinky gas and trying to blow things up!  {evil laugh}  Bwah ha ha.  I bet you can't get THAT Chemistry Set these days.  It's all safe now.  Pft.  Who wants one of THOSE for Christmas?  Might as well just draw with my Etch A Sketch!

Toys

DON'T CROSS THE LINE!!!!!

Oh oh oh!!!  My Speak & Spell!  I LOVED THAT THING!!!!!!!!!  Awwwwww, I miss my Speak & Spell.  That red plastic electronic speaking toy I could carry around with its handle all day long.  Spell DOG.  D.  O.  G.

Toys

Do they still make these?  AND does it still sound the same?  It MUST still sound the same to make it be authentic!

So we have Chemistry Sets, Etch A Sketch and Speak & Spell!  Best Christmas toys ever!

I know I have to add my Jem and the Holograms, Barbie and the Rockers too!  With their cardboard stages and plastic instruments!  I still have them too.  {nodding}  I was a Barbie addict AS A CHILD and played with them all the time.  My Mamaw would even sew them tiny clothes!  It was awesome.  Now that I am an adult I don't play with Barbie dolls but the girls do.

What were your favorite Christmas gifts growing up??

The Adventures of Supermom®

Samsung Galaxy Tab S{skipping around}  I love this time of year!  The twinkling lights, Christmas carols, eggnog and Christmas candy.  It really is a magical time of year. Samsung sent me the best Christmas present because it's everything I ever wanted without knowing that I even wanted it.  Make sense?  I always thought my laptop and smartphone were the best things ever for a busy mom like me.

Until I opened the beautiful twinkling Samsung Galaxy Tab® S 10.5" 16GB, Dazzling White then the world all made sense.  {gentle smile}

If you are looking for the perfect gift for moms, dads, grandparents or even for yourself then this tablet is it.  I promise.  I posted a review on their site and I have to share it with you because it's my honest opinion.

Samsung Logo

Things I Love: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Durable, Realistic color, Lightweight, easy to use, great sound, awesome features, perfect for those on the go, everything you need in one awesome package

I've never owned a tablet but I am a laptop junkie since I am an avid blogger {ten years} and a very busy mom of four kids and a soon to be grandmother. This Samsung Tablet is more than I ever dreamed it could be. Light and easy to use! The battery LASTS! I have everything at my fingertips and it's wonderful.

I can type up a blog post, tweet on Twitter, shoot a video and upload it to YouTube and I can take pictures and have them waiting for me on Flickr all while looking up a recipe for dinner. ALL WITHOUT LUGGING A LAPTOP AROUND!

I can be in bed watching Netflix with my feet propped up after the kids are in bed as I crochet. I can help with homework while at an appointment. I can plan my dream vacation all while having coffee at the coffee shop. I can show off pictures of my children when I run into friends.

White Chocolate and Raspberry Friendship Bread
{No picture, no video just a recipe. Okay, I included an old picture from when I made the Friendship Bread Starter.}

Michelle Lee @The Adventures of Supermom

For Thanksgiving I wanted to take something to my Dad's house for dinner even if it was something small and delicious!  I pulled out some friendship bread starter from my freezer along with some frozen organic raspberries.  YUMMY!!!

With those two ingredients I knew I couldn't go wrong!

White Chocolate and Raspberry Friendship Bread
{This is my personal recipe created for my family to enjoy.}

Preheat oven 325.

Add to your bowl:

2 Cups Flour
1/2 Teaspoon Baking Soda
1 1/2 Teaspoons Baking Powder
1/2 Teaspoon Salt
1 Cup Sugar
2 Boxes Hershey's White Chocolate Instant Pudding
1 Cup of Friendship Bread Starter
3 Eggs
1 Cup Oil
1/2 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract
1/2 Cup of Milk
1 Cup White Chocolate Chips

When everything is mixed together then fold in one cup of the frozen raspberries.  I sort of picked through the bag and picked out the prettiest plumpest raspberries I could find.

Spoon randomly in your baking dishes to mix it up a bit.

Bake for 1 hour or until a toothpick comes out clean.

This bread was delicious!  I will be making it again!
