{Broken Heart}

The Adventures of Supermom, Michelle Lee

Yeah, this note didn't change my mind.  I'm sorry I broke her heart but I'm sure it won't be the last time.

Back story:

I had planned to take the kids out for some fun in the sun and water on a Saturday morning.  The bags were packed and the sunscreen was ready and the snacks were all packed.

Then Lovely O thought she'd be too big for her britches and wouldn't listen then her mouth went all crazy.  She kicked a few things including me.

So, that was it!  No fun in the sun for us.

After she pitched a huge tantrum about not being able to go the wailing went on a very very long time.

She wrote me a note {above} and told me that was her heart breaking.

Man, I really wanted to go sit in the sand and read my book.

Grandparent's Day September 7, 2014

GourmetGiftBaskets.com

If you have been reading the blog or following me on Facebook then you know I will become a Mamaw in January and I am tickled pink and blue.  My beautiful daughter is having a gender reveal party soon so when the cake is cut we will know what the most loved baby will be.  {gentle smile}

I didn't think I'd become a grandmother this early in life, I am 40, but it has been a tremendous blessing and I cannot wait for this baby to get here so I can hold it while it sleeps, watch it explore the world and watch it smile.  Most of all give it so much love!!!

So, I heard through GourmetGiftBaskets that they have a lovely assortment of baskets to order for those special grandparents in your life.  {They sent me an email about Grandparent's Day and their amazing baskets.}  I plan on spending it with my grandchild exploring the world, of course, when the baby gets here.

Grandparents are pretty special people. They give unconditionally, never forget a birthday, and usually have good supply of pretty decent candy. All that TLC they’ve been giving you over the years certainly deserves to be returned – and we’ve got just the gifts to help you do it.

On September 7, 2014 we need to celebrate these pretty awesome people.  {Grandparents' Day has been around for more that 35 years!!!!}

Thankfully the great people at Gourmet Gift Baskets have a great assortment of baskets for any occasion.

GourmetGiftBaskets.com was founded with family values and the desire to provide exceptional gifts for all of life’s special occasions. Through years of working in his family’s flower shop in New Hampshire, President & CEO Ryan Abood naturally realized an opportunity to provide handmade, high quality gift baskets. What began with two family members in the basement of a flower shop has exploded into a multi-million dollar company recognized multiple times by Inc.500, Internet Retailer, Enterprise Bank, and more, while still remaining true to its core values of exceptional gourmet ingredients handcrafted with care. As this entrepreneurial family spirit continues in the next generation with the birth of the youngest Abood last spring, this proud family business will continue to exceed gourmet gifting expectations.

Never take for granted the small stuff.
{Because they are actually big things.}

The Adventures of SupermomI've been feeling better these days with my back, hip and nerve pain because I'm letting a friend rolf me.

No, that isn't some kinky sex role playing.

Rolfing Structural Integration is a form of hands-on manipulation and movement education developed by Dr. Ida P. Rolf over 50 years ago. It works on the web-like network of connective tissues, called fascia, to release, realign and balance the whole body, potentially resolving discomfort, reducing compensations and alleviating pain. Rolfing SI aims to restore flexibility, revitalize your energy and leave you feeling more comfortable in your body.

It WORKS!  Thankfully I know an amazing rolfer who happens to be a friend of ours and he actually married us in his backyard.  It was perfect.  The wedding.  But the rolfing is perfect.

So, I've been going to Nathan a couple of times and will continue to go back.  He's helping my back and he's helping my hip.  Yesterday I had so much energy I could have climbed Mount Everest.

If I actually wanted to climb Mount Everest.

I don't.

One night over the weekend,  or it may have been Friday night, I did my nightly walk through.  I haven't been able to do that in weeks!  Yanno, when everyone is in bed you walk through the house picking things up and putting them where they go.

A book on the shelf.  A pair of socks in the laundry basket.  Stuffed animals in the bucket.  A few dishes in the dishwasher.  Pillows tidied on the couch.  Towels straightened in the bathroom.  Washing and setting out containers for packing lunches.

Just getting the house ready for the morning.

It made me feel good to be able to do these things again for my family and for myself.

So on Monday I wanted to venture out for a few various reasons.

I did spend my day going to the library where I bought some pretty cool books and then I went to Steinmart to buy panties and I happened to find two awesome nightgowns.

Over time I started to develop a latex allergy and it's a pain in the ass.

If elastic touches my skin I break out in painful blisters!!  No joke!  In the spring I tried on a bathing suit and within minutes I had blisters on my breasts, thighs and around my buttock.  It hurt for days and it took forever for the blisters to go away.  I still have a scar on my thigh!

Anyway, finding undies where the elastic doesn't touch me is very difficult and I'm not the go commando type of lady.  When I find undies that I can wear I buy them in bulk.  Right now I have so many pair of black Jockey briefs in my drawer then sadly they started making me break out.  {POUT}  I love those Jockey undies.  While I was at the library I thought I'd go see what I could find at Steinmart since they are close to the house.

I found a few pairs to try.  Here's hoping to NO ALLERGIC REACTION.

I refuse to go COMMANDO!!!  REFUSE IT!!!  I don't care if I have to start making my own undies because I will!

I WILL NOT GO COMMANDO!!!!!!!

The Adventures of Supermom
Back to School Treats

The Adventures of SupermomYou are never too old to get a treat from your parents for making it through your first week of school. It doesn't matter if you are 6, 9, 16 and 20. {Or not even born yet.}

I've always been one of those parents to include notes in bookbags, lunchboxes and even notebooks. I just want them to know that mommy loves them even when they aren't close by. Yanno?

The other day I had to make a big grocery store visit to buy Friendship Bread baking supplies so I thought I'd better get a few things to surprise the kids since they managed a week at school without a hitch. {Well, except Ninja Gurl missing half a day Friday for not feeling well.}

So it starts, the school germs and sickness things.

I picked up some cute stuff and some silly stuff for the kids. Let me show you what I did so you can get some super silly ideas to make your kids some.

For Ninja I found Princess Stickers, a paper umbrella, hairbows and I even made her a special hairbow because I glued a flower on it.

For Lovely O I added Princess Stickers, paper umbrella, hairbows and even a super special hairbow with a flower I glued on.

My sons turned into a silly one with a Hot Wheels Car, Lite-Up Sword {with sound} Key Chain and some Hubba Bubba Chewing Gum.

H had to share her bath with the baby in her belly.  For H I added a bath beads and a pretty Flower Pin and for the unborn baby I added a rattle because they've both had a tiring week of school.

Family Time – The day before school.
Bent Creek in Asheville, North Carolina

The Adventures of Supermom

Growing up I can remember spending a lot of summer Saturdays at Bent Creek playing in the sand and lake water.  I can still remember the squishy-ness of the bottom of the lake under my feet.  I remember walking from the car barefoot, on teeny tiny rocks, then down the steps {which seemed like a hundred at my young age} which were teeny tiny rocks too.

I also remember the bath-house.

I think you entered on the left side of the building and the stalls were on the left all lined up.

I hated having to walk to the bath-house on those awful rocks to just pee.  Ouch ouch ouch ouch and OUCH!

Back then the beach area was different than it is now.  It was layered with rock walls and there was a rock wall you slid down on to get into the water.  Now the thought of getting in the water just grosses me out.  Or I thought it would.

The day before school started I was full of energy and HAD to get out of the house and do something fun with the babies.  All summer I had been promising them we'd go places that I enjoyed as a little girl.  I was excited!

{Then we all know I had some sort of back thing going on and spent most of my summer in bed binge watching Netflix.}

While the family was at church and brunch I packed up the beach towels, threw some bathing suits and sunscreen in the bag and grabbed my BIG straw hat.  I was ready!  Even had my book all packed and of course my camera.

It was a fantastic day!  It was really awesome and I am so glad we were able to enjoy it.

Just sitting there doing nothing.  {And taking pictures.}

SOL REPUBLIC DECK {Wireless Speaker} Perfect for Back to School! A GIVEAWAY!

Sol Republic DeckI LOVE MY SOLE REPUBLIC DECK!!!!!!  If you follow me on Facebook then you know I'm recovering from a back injury and have been in bed.  I've been in bed forty-seven days.  Not that I am counting. I've been on a binge watching spree.  Dexter, Orange is the New Black, Baby Daddy and a couple of movies like Lovelace, Diana and for those special nights while watching my laptop screen with my husband we watch Flight of the Conchords and Bored to Death.  Wow, I am so ashamed to admit all of that.  Let me add that I have crocheted two throws for Christmas presents, a pink one and a pretty green one and I've started three more.

So, while watching educational shows during the day I am constantly yelling asking the kids to quieten down so I can hear my laptop which rarely works and I am having to rewind a bit A LOT to hear my super educational programming.

My Deck came and I don't watch my laptop without it!!!  I can hear.  {The angels are singing!}  The quality is amazing and I love it.  While typing up this post I have music playing and it's toe tapping awesome.  There are so many things you can do with this wireless speaker!!

I'm so glad that I get to host a giveaway so you can have your very own.  This will be perfect for those kids off to college!!  Back to School time is here and this would be awesome to have in the dorm for music, Netflix and hooking up your smart phone for lots of fun!

Supermom takes pictures and a walk.
{Asheville, North Carolina}

A few days ago I took a little walk around my yard {yes that counts} and took a few pictures of the things that I thought were really pretty.

It felt really nice to be upright again and being able to take pictures. I love taking pictures.

I love sharing them with you. Enjoy.

Parenting Advice – Earring Pain is {very} REAL!
The Adventures of Supermom

I got my ears pierced. Recently I put these super cute lil opal earrings in the third hole in my adorable ears.  Don't worry I'm not having some “moment” and collecting holes in my ear, I've had this third hole since I was a teen and over time I graduated to a big girl and started only wearing one pair of earrings instead of three.

{I was actually bored in bed, imagine that, looking at my earrings and thought they'd be perfect for my long forgotten about third hole in my ears.}

So I sort of pushed them through.

It hurt.

It hurt a lot.

All day my ears ached and I was beginning to doubt my decision.

My poor ears.

Then I began to think about my babies and when they got their ears pierced.

“Oh honey, it's only going to hurt when you get them!!!! I promise, this is the hard part.”

It's total BULLSHIT!

Complete BULLSHIT!

My ears hurt.

They hurt so bad that I actually took them out.

Then I realized that my girls couldn't just take theirs out so I put them back in.

For my girls.

The Adventures of SupermomHonestly I felt so bad for lying to my babies, it was something I just didn't remember.  My ears hurt when I twisted the earrings and to sleep on my soft comfy pillow.

I will get through this.

In pain.

My poor poor babies.

I am so sorry I lied to them.  Telling them they were making a big deal when it came time to clean the earrings and twist them.

My ears hurt and throb.

Insert huge pouty face here.

{Shaking my head.}

Now you've heard Supermom tell you how I feel about the WHOLE earring situation.

AcneFree

About Acne
Acne is a very common, chronic, difficult-to-treat skin disorder that affects 40-50 million people in the United States alone.  In technical terms, acne is a disorder of the pilosebaceous unit, more commonly known as the pore. The pilosebaceous unit (pore) consists of a sebaceous gland, a hair follicle and the sebaceous duct.

AcneFreeWhen hormones overstimulate sebaceous glands, it can result in acne.  The sebaceous glands secrete sebum, a fatty, oily substance that empties on the skin surface through the opening of the hair follicle. The skin produces sebum in order to lubricate the skin and seal in moisture. Sebum, at normal levels, also helps protect the skin.

AcneFree is clinically proven to both treat and prevent acne, featuring different modes of application, ingredients and systems that provide a complete regimen of cleansing, moisturizing, and treatment products.

With products containing dermatologist-recommended effective acne treatment ingredients such as salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide, the stress and anxiety that often comes with first day jitters won’t show on their faces!

AcneFree products are available at major drug and mass retailers nationwide.

Del Vecchios Italian in Asheville, North Carolina

I just have one question.  Okay, maybe three or four or ten.

How come we didn't know about Del Vecchios sooner?????  Yeah, it is in a laundry mat but who am I to judge??  Who wouldn't want a fantastic meal while washing their darks??  That's what I'm sayin'.  Enjoy a glass of wine and some fettuccine.  Said in my best italian accent.

A friend of ours told us about your amazing food so we immediately got take out to try!!!!  My Prosciutto and Peas Fettuccine was so creamy and tasty and yummy.  The salad was almost too pretty to eat.  Almost.  Even both desserts I've tried were delicious.  Yes, I've had TWO!  We did get take out there twice in three days......

{You must try the Chocolate Chip Cannoli!}

Don't judge me!  Remember I am recovering from a back injury.

We will probably get take-out again this week.  Yummy!

I am not a number; I am a free man!

The PrisonerYesterday I had an MRI of my back to see what's going on back there {pun intended}.  I've never had an MRI before but I wasn't really nervous and I was just hoping to find out some answers.  I didn't even mind the HUGE blue scrubs I was given to wear along with my undies.  I thought it was perfect for a photo-op.  Even though the light was horrible I tried to smile for a blue scrub MRI selfie while wearing red socks.

The things I do for my fans.  {Gentle smile}

The MRI was loud even with my earplugs but that was okay.  I was there blocking out the whole process and the only thing that came to mind was a TV show that my husband had me watch called The Prisoner.  I kept saying in my head the line “I'm not a number; I am a free man!” and I'm not sure why I kept thinking about it.  Then my mind went to the village and the brightly colored clothes, like my socks, and of Patrick McGoohan and how much I'd enjoy visiting Portmeirion village near Porthmadog, North Wales.

The Prisoner

There you have it, another spy show to add to my obsession.  I wouldn't really say obsession because I really wasn't fond of the series or the ENDING.  The bouncing ball Rover always made me giggle.

{laughing now}

So there you have it, the things I think about while having an MRI.

I don't know the results yet but I am not worried.  I'd like to plan a vacation though, to Portmeirion.  I'll send you a postcard.

The Prisoner

Prisoner: Where am I?
Number Two : In the village.
Prisoner: What do you want?
Two: Information.
Prisoner: Whose side are you on?
Two: That would be telling....
We want information...information...information!
Prisoner: You won't get it!
Two: By hook or by crook, we will.
Prisoner: Who are you?
Two: The new Number Two.
Prisoner: Who is Number One?
Two: You are Number Six.
Prisoner: I am not a number; I am a free man!
Two: [Laughter]

Ninja Gurl writes a note

Two years ago we boarded Sophie while we went on vacation because the house we stay in doesn't allow dogs.  While packing up the van and getting all fours kids settled for the drive we headed that way to drop off Sophie.  Ninja Gurl gave me the above note to give to them when I dropped Sophie off.

It gets me all teary eyed.  Ninja Gurl wanted to make sure they took care of Sophie and to call me if they needed to.

I'm glad I still have this little note.
