Day Thirty, what are you thankful for?

Today I am thankful for DVR.  Today while I wait for the floor to dry, I mopped, I’m watching Scandal from last night then I will vacuum.  Next up Person of Interest, Grey’s and then Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.

Headache still here = not happy.

Me: That's not nice to say. Where did you hear that?

Baby M: From you.

Me: Guess I have to watch what I say around you.

Time to get the hard stuff involved.

I was feeling down yesterday so I had to get the hard stuff out.  Not wine or beer or tequila but chocolate brownies with mint icing.

Homemade of course.

Supermom Cooks - Apple, Avocado and Feta Cheese Salad

I’m always in the kitchen throwing things together when I cook and some of my best creations come from me just throwing food from the fridge in a dish or bowl or crock-pot.  Yummy!

Last night I whipped up a Salmon Loaf with a Dill Sauce, some yummy sweet corn and deviled eggs (I was craving them again) and I came up with a new creation that everyone loved, an Apple, Avocado and Cheese Salad.

Wordless Wednesday
Bits of Christmas in my house.

Day Twenty Seven, what are you thankful for?

Perfect Avocado
A perfect avocado.

Keeping it Real - Baby Products you can LIVE WITHOUT!!!

Over the weekend I was trying to find some sheets in the hall bathroom closet and I realized that it was such a mess that everything needed to come out and I had to start over with a clean slate.

While doing the big clean I found another baby product or two that you can live without!

Those expensive baby towels with hoods and those tiny washcloths.  Seriously, aren’t my expensive organic cotton towels good enough??

The hooded towels are small and thin and I’d much rather prefer a think soft as buttah towel to wrap my baby in who’s cold from getting out of the baby tub.

Looks like winter out there.

Looks like winter.

Day Twenty Six - What are you thankful for?

Today I took my teenage daughter to the doctor since she got her first kidney stone on Thanksgiving and she was still having pain and not feeling well.

She was given a clean bill of health along with antibiotics and more pain meds.  We were able to bring home her stone to add it to my collection.  Ha ha.  I tease, I don’t even think I have anymore of mine lying around or they’ve been sent off for analysis anyway.

So, today I am thankful for my daughter on the road to recovery and our doctor for being an awesome help when we have a medical problem.  I’ve been seeing him for over 18 years, since I quit seeing a pediatrician, and he’s always made me feel at ease.  I’m glad that H now sees him too!

Day Twenty Five - What are you thankful for?

Today the house is quiet because Superdad took the kids to the movies and since I don’t do kiddie movies I'm enjoying some quiet time.  I’d rather relax at home and forgo the popcorn and all those kids.  Instead I went to Earth Fare this morning for groceries and cleaned out and I’ve tried to focus on blog work.  My desk is full of reviews so I must get busy.

During a recent conversation I was informed that I should already be on Pinterest.  I’ve stayed away from “Pinning” because I cannot become addicted to anything else because I just don’t have the time.  Between Facebook’ing things and blogging I don’t have time for anything else, do I?

I’ve decided to give it a go.  *bowing*

You can now find Supermom on Pinterest!  YAY!!!

Pin me!!  Oh wait; please tell me how to use it!!!

Today I am thankful for expanding to Pinterest because it will allow other people to get to know me!

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas everywhere you go.

I’m a believer in celebrating one holiday at a time.  For example I get irritated to hear Christmas music before Thanksgiving and I DO NOT decorate for Christmas until after Thanksgiving.  Sure, it can be Thanksgiving night after cleaning up the kitchen and setting your dining room table back.

Because that is after Thanksgiving.

Superdad found a beautiful tree yesterday and we decorated it last night.  We as in Lil O, Baby M and me.  H was in bed with her kidney stone pain and B wasn’t home and I’m pretty sure he didn’t mind letting his little sisters hang up snowflakes and candy canes without him.

I was a bit stressed because the lights were tangled and I had missed my fake tree where you snap the pieces together and just plug it in.  Voila.  I guess I’m spoiled that way.  Just you wait until next Christmas when I can pull that tree out of the box!  I’ll be singing Jingle Bells for sure!

Now, let Christmas begin.

Day Twenty Four - What are you thankful for?

My husband doing what he thought was best even though I wanted something entirely different.  As you all know my fake tree died and we were looking for a real tree that could be planted in the yard until the fake Christmas Trees went on sale after the big day.

Superdad went tree shopping (day two) and ended up coming home with a big cut tree for the living room.  It’s so tall is almost touches the ceiling with the Santa on top.  Just a few inches shy.

Kidney Stones are hereditary.

Who knew?  I’ve been dealing with kidney stones since I was 19 years old and it’s the most excruciating pain you will ever experience and I’ve had FOUR KIDS!  OUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanksgiving morning I was still in my pajamas planning the day, I had to shower, I had to make my pineapple casserole and get the kids ready and blah blah blah.  At 10:30 am, while Superdad was at church, I find my teenage daughter in the floor in a lot of pain.  She had mentioned having some side pain for a day or two but nothing like this.

At 11:00 her dad shows up to take her to his house to enjoy a Thanksgiving lunch while I’m still in my pajamas with bed head and I haven’t even brushed my teeth!  She’s in awful pain, throwing up from the pain and having a fit.

Urgent Care was closed and our doctor’s office was closed.  We happened to get a doctor on call to call us back and told him the situation.

Day Twenty Three - What are you thankful for?

Oh, that’s easy!

I’m thankful for leftovers!

Dammit, I should have bought a tree last year on sale!

I’m all for fake trees with lights!!  ALL FOR IT!!!!  One, I don’t want to have to water a real tree every day (because you know I would end up doing it) and then when Christmas was over we'd have to throw it on the curb.  Such a total waste!!!!

But *sniff sniff* our fake tree died last year.  It was barely hanging on to begin with because the previous year Lil O fell into the tree trying to look at ornaments on the top and broke some limbs.  It was hilarious because she got up with ornaments hanging from her hair!

*laughing as I fondly remember*

Then last year I never knew if all the lights would work or not when we turned the tree on.  It was rather maddening.  So, we have no fake tree for this year.

I was checking out prices to a few that I loved but there’s no WAY I’d spend that kind of money so I’ve decided to wait until after Christmas to buy my fake dream tree for next Christmas.

Ha ha.  I know, I’m odd like that or practical, you decide.

This year instead of throwing away a cut tree to the curb we are going to get a real tree that we can plant after Christmas.  I’m not exactly sure where we will plant it but at least we won’t be wasting a tree or spending too much money on a fake tree with awesome lights made in.

What’s your opinion when it comes to your Christmas tree?

I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Day Twenty One – What are you thankful for?

Today Superdad and I went to Target to get a feel of Christmas gifts for the babies before the after Thanksgiving madness begins because we all know I won’t be going shopping then.

I was a bit disappointed with what Target had to offer in toys because I get all their toys there!  So I had hoped to check off some stuff from my list for the babies.

Sadly I didn’t.

Day Twenty – What are you thankful for?

I’m not sure what to blog about today that I am thankful for.  I’ve been in a funk for a couple of days and have been sleeping a lot with Sophie the Superdog.  She’s on three medications and sleeping a lot but doing much better after the vet visit yesterday.  That makes me happy.

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday of the year; it’s like Christmas without going into debt to buy presents.  We get to enjoy time with our family and eat some amazing food and it’s just awesome for me.  This year we are going to my dad’s house who just lives a few minutes from us.

I’m making my awesome Pineapple Casserole to take per his request and Lil O’s.  Since they love it so much I thought I’d make two of them to take.  One for my daddy and one for Lil O and hopefully they will share them with everyone else.

Now I know what I can be thankful for today.

Breaking Dawn Part 2

Breaking Dawn was my favorite book of the series and I’ve read it a few times and, trust me, I’ve been teased about doing that!  *nodding*  I was finally able to see the movie Saturday night with my peeps (six of us) eating movie theater popcorn drinking that coke I mentioned in a previous post.

I’m about to tell you my opinion of the movie and it will contain spoilers so don’t go any further if you haven’t seen the movie.

Those awesome thirty twenty something women enjoying a movie.

Day Nineteen – What are you thankful for?

I’m thankful for having a day off to take care of my sick puppy Sophie.

Meditation offers so many reliefs from our hectic life and allows us to regroup and have a peace about us.  I’ve had trouble meditating and I’ve tried, even bought books but my mind doesn’t stop.  Ever.  That’s probably why I take something for anxiety twice a day.  *nodding*

Superdad checked out a kid’s book from the library about meditation that Lil O’s enjoys.  (Saturday is library day if you didn’t know and we have the stacks of books to prove it.)  Last night before bed Lil O wanted to mediate with Superdad and Baby M wanted to give it a try.

After a minute or two Baby M grabs her pillow and says,

"That’s it, I’m out."

*insert a lot of loud laughter here*

Superdad sneaked back in the living room to tell me what had just happened and we got a good giggle out of it.

I guess meditation isn’t her thing just yet.

I guess tormenting us is her thing though.

Isn't this the most adorable baby that you've ever seen??

Another use for my new bench.
