I'm just not Supermom anymore....

I think I’m just worn out with blogging. I’ve been around a long time and I think I have given all the advice that I know. You firs...

When I do it, I do it ginormous.

Yep, it's true.  I’m not one to just do things half way around here.  Same goes for my health or sanity.  If you can call me sane that is.  Lately I’ve been tired and just want to sleep all the time.  I can sleep nine hours at night and then take a three hour nap and still feel utterly exhausted.  I thought it may be related to the weather change with Fall/Winter knocking on the door and it getting dark so early.

Happy Halloween

Everyone loves when Halloween rolls around because it's a time that we can dress up and act silly PLUS get lots of FREE Candy!  *evil laugh*  I have FOUR kids that I can get candy from.  Bwah ha ha ha...  Even though it's Halloween and the kids will want to be on a sugar high it is important to teach them about enjoying their candy in moderation and to see it as a special treat.

Yip yip yip yip... Uh huh. Uh huh.

These were two of my favorite characters on Sesame Street because I just thought they were totally cool.  I can remember them in a few skits saying, "Yip-yip-yip-yip... Uh-huh. Uh-huh."
Their saying came to mind when Baby M said something the other day because, Yip-yip-yip-yip...  Uh-huh.  Uh-huh. She got it from me.  Yip yip she did.

Crocheting Sophie the Superdog
a Sweater, first draft.

Yes, I sat down and crocheted my baby a sweater. This is the first rough draft. I didn't use a pattern, I just grabbed some cotton yarn and a needle and just crocheted and designed as I went along. I want to tweak a few things but all in all it turned out pretty awesome. She loves it. :)

The Cold and Flu Fight

The Cold and Flu Fight
As every parent knows, cold and flu season is nothing to sneeze at. With winter weather nearly upon us, it’s important to keep kids equipped to battle those nasty bugs – and they can do so with the help of these great Disney-themed products!

It's harder than one thinks.

I've just finished writing my second story book for kids this month.  No, the first one isn't published yet because I haven't illustrated it.  Nor have I illustrated the second book yet.   I bought an art book and coloring pencils so I can sit down and try to bring out the images in my head onto paper.  I have a certain look that I want these characters to have and I hope that I am able to bring them to life on paper.

One thing I have considered is that I have no ability to draw.  I’ve never tried to draw so how do I know that I can even do it.  It will be totally cool if I can draw my characters though instead of having to have someone else do my illustrations.

I’ll let you know how it goes.  Wish me luck.

A Few Days in my Life, Vacation

Folly Beach

I was (sexually) assaulted at Piggly Wiggly.

I was at Piggly Wiggly in South Carolina buying a t-shirt when this man comes up from behind and just slams himself into me almost knocking us to the floor.  I thought it was an accident and just tried to catch myself from hitting the ground.  Then he did it again!  I mean he’s slamming into me from behind at full force almost making me fall in the floor.

By then I didn’t feel so good to my stomach and I felt violated.  It was a bad feeling.  I don’t recall him groping me but I was in too much of a shock to really know what was going on.  All I know is his body was up against mine twice.

I had always thought I would be a bad ass woman attacking a man that was in my space without permission but instead I froze.  That upset me the most.  I didn’t react.  I just stood there.

I was shaking and in tears.  I went back to the minivan and tell Superdad about what happened and he was very comforting.  I still feel hurt and confused about it.

**Typing this up has me shaking and my eyes are full of tears.**

Why is vacation so tiring?

Know what I mean?  Here it is day four at the beach and I feel utterly exhausted!  I haven't done anything but walk in the sand, sit in the sun and go out to eat.  Don't hate me.  I've even taken a two hour nap every day in my bed looking out at the beach and ocean.  Don't be calling me names.  ha ha

So, I'm exhausted!  I'm sitting here on the couch, after a walk on the beach and a hot shower, wondering if it's too early for bed.  But we are having nightly cocktails with our neighbors later on after they watch the sunset on the other side of the island.

The babies are having a blast.  Finding shells, building sand castles and playing on the boogie board.  Superdad is having a nice time too looking for shark's teeth and sitting in his chair beside me on the beach.  The only thing we are missing is H, B2 and Sophie the Superdog.  We miss them awful bad.  Dang teenagers not wanting to skip school and enjoy a beach vacation with us!  **That tells you how awesome my teens are, they'd rather not skip school for a beach trip.**  I will add that they went to the beach over the summer with their youth group for a week and they had a blast!!!  So, they aren't being deprived of anything.

I guess I better go sit around and do nothing for the rest of the night.  Time really does stop at the beach, doesn't it?

My piggies having a wonderful time.

Supermom builds a sandcastle
and catches crabs.

I was being all goofy!

I caught crabs at the beach.  ha ha  You don't hear that every day.

In a few shorts hours this will be the view from my porch.

Folly Beach

I'd like to thank my friend Anna for house sitting taking care of two teenagers and Sophie the Superdog so I can frolic on the beach with Superdad.

Da da da dum (snap snap)

I'm a huge Addams Family fan!!!!  HUGE!!!  I've always loved that TV show and still love catching the reruns on TV.  I was never much of a Munsters fan because I thought the show sucked, IMPO.

I laugh because here lately Baby M has turned all morbid on us.  ha ha  I say this in a very comical way!

She's always talking about death and dying.  Once I mentioned that I had a tummy ache and she rushed over to tell me, "It's okay, you're not going to die."

Where in the world is she getting all this death and dying stuff cause I know there's not a Dora deals with Death episode?  We laugh it off but I will tell Superdad that she reminds me of Wednesday Addams.  I'll start letting her hair grow so I can braid it and then she can wear black dresses.

Next thing you know she'll be popping the heads off of Lil O's Barbie dolls and naming them Marie Antoinette scaring the rest of our family!

They're creepy and they're kooky,
Mysterious and spooky,
They're altogether ooky,
The Addams Family.

Their house is a museum.
When people come to see 'em
They really are a screa-um.
The Addams Family.

Flashback Friday

Stop!!!!  Let's dance!!!  I think I have a crush on David Byrne!

It’s like Chinese Water torture!

This year marks the 45th anniversary of Star Trek first airing on television.  I know this because Superdad decided to celebrate this auspicious event by watching each episode in order on the anniversary of its original air date from forty-five years ago exactly at 7:30 pm est…every week…for the whole season.

I’m not joking

So, every Thursday, it’s Star Trek night at our house at 7:30, on the dot.

Feel your boobies for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

With it being Breast Cancer Awareness Month I thought it would a good time to talk about coming up with a plan to feel your boobies once a month because early detection is a must, because finding a lump in the early stages can be a big advantage!

I admit that I am horrible at doing a monthly breast exam even though my doctor fussed at me for not performing one every month at my age.  She even gave me a hang tag where I can pop out the months so it makes keeping track a lot easier.  *Hanging Head*  I still don't use the card or perform the monthly exams.....

Eat More Fruits and Veggies

Eat More Fruits and Veggies

I'm very proud to admit that getting my kids to eat more vegetables and fruits have never been a problem!  We are an organic family and enjoy many veggies and fruits and even grow a garden in the summer.  Our three year old will gladly choose broccoli over french fries and we are so proud of that!

Kid Friendly Asheville

I'm really happy that I decided to bring Kid Friendly Asheville back to the big WWW.  I went on a short hiatus from KFA last year when life got so busy and I had too many projects going on so a few had to take a sabbatical.

In the mean time I received some great emails about it being missed and that they hoped I'd bring it back.  After much thought and deliberation I have it back up and running.

Baby M wasn't born at the grocery store.

No matter what she may tell you she WAS NOT born at the grocery store.  I have no idea where she got that from but loves telling people that she was born at the grocery store.  I promise Baby M that your birth was planned right down to the day and time about a month ahead of time and it took place in the hospital because I couldn't see a doc doing my cesarean at the grocery store in the produce aisle.

It is funny though!

I found these on my camera card.  Sister Love.

I love it when they borrow my camera and I find these awesome pics.

I've lost six pounds.

I got a lot of awesome comments about my bravery for posting my scale picture that was showing my current weight and talking about feeling sexy after having kids.  130 if you cannot tell by the tiny picture over there.  ha ha  I don't mind being 130 and didn't mind telling a lot of people that I weigh 130.  I didn't think it was a major thing since I have had four children and gained up to 180 the day before Baby M was born.

Taking Care of Your Chompers

Healthy teeth start with healthy habits, and it’s never too early to equip tots with the tools they’ll need. Disney provides an array of items to bring fun to the forefront while brushing up on dental care.  With four kids in the house teeth brushing takes up a lot of time.  I'm always saying, "Go brush your teeth." or "Have you brushed your teeth?"  We all usually end up in the bathroom waiting for the water cup and our turn to spit in the sink.  Here are some awesome tips on getting your kids to have better brushing habits:

Taking care of Sophie the Superdog

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Hills Pet Nutrition. All opinions are 100% mine.

This year we added a puppy to our house of six, two parents and four children.  And now we have a four legged fluffy bundle of love.  Having her to love has been awesome because she is just an amazing dog and brings us such happiness.  We want to take care of her as best as we can so she continues to grow and be healthy for a happy long life.

October is Breast Cancer
Awareness Month

Since October is Breast Cancer awareness month there is something I want to share with you. Someone very close to me is a breast cancer survivor. A wonderful woman who means the world to me. A woman that has always been there for me and my children.

She is a strong willed woman that has taught me how to be one as well. She is the first person I call when I get up in the morning or when I hear something I think she'll want to know, or if I want advice. She is also the person I call every night to tell her my love and that I'll talk with her in the morning.
