Memoirs from New York City

Since I have so many stories to share about my New York City visit I thought I would start a series "Memoirs from New York City" just for all the crazy exciting delicious blog posts.

Ready for number one???  I've never been to New York City so I knew I'd have an adventure and I did!!!  I went with a list of things I'd like to see knowing that I'd only be able to cover a fraction of them since I had others things to do and only a few short days to do all of them in.

My trips starts at the JFK Airport where Kailani thought her luggage had been lost.  After a frantic search the luggage was found and we were then headed to our hotel in Soho.  Since New York City had just been dumped with two feet of snow so it took us 1 1/2 hours to get to our hotel which is at most a half hour trip. Upon checking in we had exactly five minutes to drop our bags in our room, change clothes and catch a cab for our dinner reservations at Del Posto a Mario Batali restaurant.

Del Posto was an amazing experience.   I referred to it as "a party in your mouth" experience.  ha ha  The atmosphere was wonderful and we were treated like royalty.  At one point Kailani shivered as she told me a story and someone magically appeared and placed a shawl over her shoulders!  Now, I call that service!

We ordered the tasting menu so we could try all these different courses.  YUMMY!!!!!!  I snapped a few pictures of my food not wanting to look like a total goober by snapping 100's of pics of the beautiful food placed in front of us.

The view from our table.

We dined on Roasted Autumn Vegetables, Lobster Salad, Spaghetti with Dungeness Crab, Pumpkin Cappellacci with brown butter, Wood-Grilled Lobster, Duck including Foie Gras, Tarttufo and Butterscotch Semifreddo.  Including the treats they brought us before and after our meal.

We had a wonderful time!  Now I can say I've been to Del Posto in NYC.  YUMMY!

Here's us getting ready to leave the restuarant and hit the city.
