Imaginary Friends

Fosters Home for Imaginary Friends Cartoon
Lately Baby M, who is 3 1/2 has two imaginary friends and their names are Stacy and Jack.  I’m not sure when Stacy and Jack appeared into our household but they are here now (not really taking up space or adding to my food budget).  I’m not worried about Baby M’s psychological well-being because I see imaginary friends as an awesome use of a child’s imagination!  How cool would it be to have these awesome people to talk to and play with!!?!?

I never had an imaginary friend growing up but after seeing Baby M with hers I wish I had of had one or two like she does.  I hear her talk to Stacy and Jack with such love because in her mind they are real people and they are playing with her.

One of these things is not like the other.

For a year or two I’ve been having this debate with Baby M and you’d think that since she is 3 1/2 that she would catch on.  But, sadly she hasn’t.  ha ha

I’m pretty good at remember cups and which cup I give the kids during the day and then when a milk cup goes missing and cannot be found I know where to look.  HERE:

The play kitchen in the play area.  (This kitchen was H's and 15 years old!!!)

Sometimes it will have been in there a day or two and be YUCKY!!!  I try and try to explain that her fridge will not keep things cold and will make her milk sour!!!!  *shaking head*

My dream fridge!
I think it’s just being “lazy” and not wanting to stop playing to take it to the real fridge in the kitchen but then you’d think she’d know that her fridge isn’t cold but she doesn’t.

Perhaps one day I will stop finding sour milk cups in the play kitchen and in the real fridge in the kitchen.  I can dream, right?

Kids are so cool!  Everyone should have one or four!

Big Day For Me

Last night I went out with my girlfriends and my lil sis to our hangout for delicious food and awesome drinks.  I had three Caramel Martinis and they were absolutely delicious.  Like lick the glass to get all the caramel out delicious!  And the Crab Rangoos were finger licking good and my steak was perfect and the chocolate brownie for dessert was yummy.  I'm all about delicious food!!!!  Thankfully my girlfriends are too!

I wanted to make the night extra special so beforehand I typed up a speech of sorts to read to my table to express how 2011 was for all of us and how much we have to look forward to in 2012.  I kept getting all weepy and didn't think I was going to make it through but I did.  I wanted my friends to know how special they are to me and I hope I managed to do that.

Revolutionary Road, hated it.

Why oh why did I do that to myself?  I was wide awake last night so I grabbed a movie from the cabinet to watch along with a bag of peanut butter cups.  I picked out Revolutionary Road to watch with Kate and Leo which surprised me because I thought they were all wrong for Titanic when that movie came out.  But I wasn’t consulted with about the choices so I didn’t have a say but I know that I could have picked two better people for the parts in Titanic.   **SPOILERS AHEAD, so turn away if you don’t want to know.**

Back to Revolutionary Road, it was just one train wreck after another over and over and over again.  With a young couple Frank and April trying to live with their two kids in the suburb, one doing a job that pays the bills and one that regrets becoming a mother because she couldn’t pursue her acting career.  So of course she blames him I suppose for buying the cute little house to raise their two children in.

They argue like every other normal married couple, he has an affair with a secretary, how cliché BTW!  Then April comes up with an idea to change it all!!!!!  Move to Paris.  They begin to make all these big plans and they are extremely happy about the new adventure.  Until he gets a job promotion that, you can tell, he doesn’t want to turn down and whoopsie she gets pregnant for a third time after a hot and heavy session in the kitchen one night.

The tale of the Easy Bake Oven.

I did all my Christmas shopping in November and I was so proud of myself finishing such a feat as that!  I was even more proud of myself for grabbing the last Easy Bake Oven on the shelf at Target on that Saturday morning while shopping with Superdad.  I was SUPER HAPPY ABOUT THAT because it’s all that Lil O has been asking for since seeing those stupid commercials on TV.  Commercials are plain EVIL and shown on purpose on cartoon networks!    So anyway….

Christmas Eve night while all the kids were in a slumber and I in my robe, set out to make Christmas dreams come true.  I got out my super-secret stash to put under the tree and realized that the Easy Bake Oven was funky looking.  It has been squashed or dropped, who knows and I was devastated!  Where could we go at midnight to find another Easy Bake Oven?!?!?   I was even thinking that Superdad could go grab a screw driver and a hammer and fix this thing!!!  No such luck but Superdad came up with a genius plan, let Santa leave a letter!

Twas the Night before Christmas

Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St Nicholas soon would be there.

The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads.

And mamma in her ‘kerchief, and I in my cap,
Had just settled our brains for a long winter’s nap.

When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.

The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below.
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a miniature sleigh, and eight tinny reindeer.

Where's mom?

Hiding in the bathroom in the bath tub in very hot water feeling the water caress her aching and tired body.

It was nice.

Feeling the weight of the book on her tummy made her realize how nice the escape was and how much she had needed it.

It reminded her of how much she loved being in New York City and how much she wants to go back.

All I want for Christmas
is my two front teeth.

She lost the other front tooth in her sleep last night.

I have a muffin top!

You’ve heard it here first!  I Michelle, AKA Supermom, has a muffin top!  If you watched the most recent vlog then you know that I’m being bombarded with Christmas candy in all shapes and sizes!  Lord knows it is starting to show in my midsection.    Tonight I wanted to go to the local pizza place beside our house for dinner so I grabbed my favorite, fit so awesome, jeans to wear and it’s where I saw it first!

THE MUFFIN TOP!

As I glared into the mirror visioning the cupcakes, peanut butter balls, haystacks and fudge I said a naughty word that I will not repeat here.  It wasn’t a nice word!  Yeah yeah, I can say I don’t mind being fat and happy until my favorite jeans don’t fit!  My favorite jeans…..sobbing.

It’s not fair I tell you.

So does this mean I have to be like everyone else that makes that cheesy New Year’s Resolution to join a gym or work out *hilarious laugh* because Supermom doesn’t do any of that!  AT ALL!  DAMMIT!

My favorite jeans!!!!

That’s it!  I’m not getting near a scale or my favorite jeans until like February!

A Christmas Present Idea

Do you still need a few ideas for someone for Christmas?  I made these baskets for some friends (and they haven't gotten them yet so I hope they aren't reading this post).

10 Baskets:  Dollar Store
Tissue Paper:  Dollar Store
Several Boxes of Christmas Ornaments:  Dollar Store
10 Jars of Paul Newman Spaghetti Sauce, I buy his sauce because they donate it back out
10 Bags of Pasta
Assorted Candy

Making of the baskets.

Christmas and Candy?

Seriously what does Christmas Candy have to do with the birth of Jesus?  I've gained five pounds the past few weeks and I blame you!

Merry Christmas!

Happy Monday

I'm rather smitten with Matt Hales.  You know I have a thing for British men.  *swoon*

Happy Friday!

Sunday Morning.
Last Christmas
Yay, it's Friday!  Not that it really makes any difference for me.  I still have work to do no matter what day it is.  Lil O hasn't been feeling well so she's been home the past two days so we've just been sitting around watching TV and getting ready for the big guy to come.  I cannot believe that Christmas is nine days away!  NINE DAYS!!  How did that happen?  Didn't we just celebrate this recently?

Well, it feels like it anyway.

I'm glad that the kids will be out of school and I can spend more time with them for a few weeks without the hustle and bustle of school and running the roads for carpool.  Things like that.  It'll be nice to sleep in and hang out with my family.

It's all grey and dreary looking here but rather warm.  Not December weather for sure.  I know that some of my friends want snow for Christmas but I do not!  Christmas morning we have everyone over for breakfast and to see what Santa brought so I want nice clean roads for travel that morning!  Last year people had just started to arrive when everyone had to scurry back home because of all the snow!  Over a foot by the end of the day!!!  I don't want a repeat of that!

Hmmm, I'm rather boring these days.  Cooking.  Cleaning.  Crocheting.  Reading.  Working.  Typical mom stuff.

Are you ready for the holidays?

I can make a difference and so can you.

Yesterday I hope that you read my blog post about domestic abuse and how I helped someone that I love very much go to Helpmate with her two daughters to get out of a dangerous relationship.  She left everything behind, material things that is.  She is safe and sound with family right now and with the help of Helpmate we hope that she will have her own home as soon as possible.

Thanks to a generous outpouring of the school the girls (ages 6 and 11) will have a wonderful Christmas this year during this difficult time.  Then my friend Twilight Junkie suggest I blog about it and accept donations for this amazing woman and her two children.  She still needs gas to run the car, money for insurance to be able to drive the car and a car payment to make.  If you want to donate money for this family I have set up a special Paypal button.  I will collect the money for her and give it back to her in the form of cash or gift certificates to use at area stores.

I just want to tell everyone thank you for the kind words that you've given me during this difficult time.  I love this woman with all my heart and I hope in time she will be happy and not worry about fear or in her words, "being homeless".

PS.  If you do donate to this family I will be more than happy to share photos of them with you so that you know the family that you are helping.

I'm losing faith.

I’m wearing my emotions on my sleeve.

Lately I’m on the verge of tears about everything.  It can be a commercial, TV show and even while reading the kids their letters from Santa over the weekend.  Everything is making me cry.  Everything is weighing on my heart.  I’m a very emotion woman and I’m so passionate about things.

Out of confidence I cannot go into many details but this week I helped someone very special to me go to Helpmate to seek help for herself and her children.  Here it is Christmas and this person is homeless, in a sense, because of her useless husband!  The one that emotionally abuses her and calls her names in front of her children and the man that has physically hurt her.  This is the husband that she vowed in front of God to love forever.  This is the man that she loved and started a family with because of love.  The man that thought it was okay to abuse his wife.  He’s a piece of shit to me now.  *sorry for the anger*

I was sitting in this little office knowing her story as my heart literally broke as I sat there hearing.  Feeling.  I wanted to scream at the top of my lungs and just cry but I didn’t let myself.  I had to keep it together for her.  I wanted to take the weight off of her shoulders and protect her from the world.  I wanted to do that for her and I’m hurt that I’m not able to make it all better!  I’m not able to say things that can help.  I have a home.  I have a husband.  I have a place to sleep at night.  I am safe.

From my Kitchen on a Sunday

It seems like all I post these days are pictures of something that I've made or something that I've cooked. ha ha I guess because all I've been doing is eating and making things. Yesterday while grocery shopping at Earth Fare I saw the most beautiful steaks at the meat counter. I mean like my mouth was watering and I wanted that meat! So this is what I did today:

The Help was an AMAZING MOVIE!

I just hung up my bathrobe in my bathroom on a hook on the back of the door and then I glanced around my bathroom.  I just stood there in my bathroom looking at the things I needed to do like vacuum and dust.  Then as I walked into my bedroom I noticed there was laundry that needed to be folded and put away.  These are things that I happily do every day in my house.

Then Baby M caught my attention as she was mimicking me getting ready as she was throwing the clothes from her set of drawers trying to find the perfect pair of pants and a shirt that she loved.  Matching clothes isn’t a concern of hers and I don’t care.  She loves being independent and I love it too.

Then I became so overjoyed at looking at my daughter and I was so happy that I was able to stay home with her every single day.  We have no “help” around the house and it made me extremely happy knowing this.

Christmas Shopping, Supermom style.

With 18 days left until the big day it’s time to make sure that your gifts have been purchased OR MADE or at least have a general idea of what you need to get done.  It’s pretty easy for us because we don’t go all crazy and go into debt when it comes to shopping.  The kids are easy!  I let the kids make a list of the things that way would like to have knowing that just because it’s on the list doesn’t mean that they will get it.  They know that I will pick 2-3 things off their list to get and that can be anything from a DVD , video game, clothes or TOYS (if you go by the little ones lists).

Homemade Chocolate Walnut Brownies
with Homemade Peppermint Icing

For some strange reason when I get sick and don't feel well I dream of food!!!  Remember that time I called all the donut places in town looking for a chocolate peanut butter donut or if they could make some for me???  Only to have to make up my own cake with the most creamiest chocolate peanut butter icing (EVER) when I felt better!  Same thing happened last night.  I woke up wanting brownies and peppermint!  So I just made some homemade chocolate walnut brownies and a fluffy peppermint icing for them!

They were delicious!!!  The chocolate with the peppermint icing was AWESOME!

I have icing left so tomorrow I might make gingerbread cookies!

Did you miss me?

One of the things about being a blogger is some days you have time to sit in front of your laptop, desk top, Droid, Blackberry or IPhone and work.  Other days you just don’t want to do any of the above.  It’s been like that for me the past few days.  I was even happier when I had a few things scheduled to post so there wasn’t a huge blank on the blogs.

I’ve not been feeling well this week.  At one point I thought I was having a heart attack, PAIN in my chest, shortness of breath and I couldn’t stop burping.  I just knew that something was wrong.  I went to my doctor and he did an EKG which showed my heart was doing well at the moment in time anyway.  Then he gave a Nexium (GO ANNA) to see if it was indigestion.  Hours later I was still feeling bad with chest pain and shortness of breath so an ultrasound of my gallbladder was scheduled.  The gallbladder looked fine but they did find kidney stones, which I already knew about.  YAY, lucky me!

Happy Anniversary

Today marks the ten month anniversary of the day I had my hysterectomy.  That is cause to celebrate!  Ten months of no period, no excruciating pain and no back pain.  It’s wonderful!  I will say that I had an amazing doctor take care of me throughout the whole process.  She diagnosed my unhappy uterus then schedule my surgery right away only to change it because she wouldn’t let me go on tour with Vaseline three short weeks after surgery, so the day I got back from dog sledding in Duluth I was in the hospital showing the goods off in a hospital gown.

The recovery was hard for me but now I’m super-duper and don’t miss having a period one bit!  My life has improved since I don’t have to worry about a period!  LOVE IT!!!!!

Yes, I still get sad from time to time when I see an adorable baby because I can no longer have one but then I see the four wonderful kids that I do have and I know how incredibly I am blessed.  They are all wonderful amazing kids and I couldn’t ask for more.

I do hold out to the thought of perhaps adopting if the chance ever was presented to us or becoming a grandmother down the road.  WAY DOWN THE ROAD, glaring at the teenage daughter.  I don’t have to worry about that just yet thankfully.  I know she won’t be a virgin forever but I know that it’s not on her plate now and that makes me proud.  *proud mommy smile*

Anyway, sigh; I’m enjoying my babies, my husband and Sophie the Superdog!  Happy Anniversary to me!

A Match Made in Heaven

Picture used from.http://www.countryliving.com
The other day I was going through the fridge trying to whip up something with the leftovers from Thanksgiving.  I ended up making some potato cakes with the leftover potatoes and they were delicious!!  They tasted even more delicious paired with heated honey ham and steamed broccoli.  The ham and potato cakes were perfect together.

Like beer and pizza, chocolate and peanut butter and bananas with almond butter!!!

I added cream, a lot of salt, shredded cheese, an egg, sprinkle of flour and an assortment of spices to the potatoes.  I don’t know exact measurements but I’m sure whatever you add will be awesome!
I used my griddle and cooked them with some olive oil.

Finger licking good!  I think I’ll go make mashed potatoes just so I can make more potato cakes!

Real Men Wear Twilight T-shirts

Real Men Wear Pink Twilight T-shirts

My son has a lot of black tees in his wardrobe and it's obvious that he doesn't look in the mirror when he gets ready for school!!!

Yesterday, he's running down the steps to the car so Superdad can take him to school and I see a flash of familiar silver when he is at the bottom of the steps.

I yell out, "What shirt are you wearing?"

It just so happens that my Team Edward shirt got in his basket and he had put in on by mistake but didn't realize it because obviously he didn't look in a mirror!

Just think of all the torment that would have been wearing my Twilight shirt to school.  It was all a wrestling match day so it would have been hilarious in a mean sort of way.

He was very glad that I noticed!!!  I bet he was!  I did tell him it would have made the girls wild, well the Team Edward ones at least.

He can borrow it anytime!

I blame society
said tongue in cheek.

I just made a quick trip to the grocery store by the house for Brillo Pads, dishwasher tabs and yogurt.  We are an organic family so we don't usually shop at this store except for household needs and the Weight Watchers Yogurt that I LOVE!

Some how my arm was twisted for fruit flavored marshmallows, Fruit Loops Cereal, Nilla Wafers and the DVD Despicable Me.

While in line checking out Baby M wants M & M's but I tell her, "No, you already have that crap cereal."

Baby M, "When we get home I want that crap cereal."

I love her, she's awesome.

Week 12: Fun at Family Meals

It's really important to make time to sit down with your family at dinner time because it allows you to talk about the day, enjoy yummy food and just be together.  We always enjoy dinner together in our house because it's the time that we can be together without the hustle and bustle of "doing" everything that needs to be done.  With my husband working and the kids in school we don't have a lot of time to be together but making this one meal "our meal" is very important and special for all of us.

Why am I craving these?

*skipping around*

Sort of, okay maybe not.  I'm on the couch crocheting on scarf #3.  I finished the second one last night and when Lil O gets home from school she can help add the fringe since it's for one of her teachers at school and then it will be finished.  I should have this third scarf finished this week depending on how much time I can put into it.

I love crocheting.  A lot.

TODAY.com's Top Vegan Picks for Thanksgiving

A study conducted by The Vegetarian Times shows 7.3 million Americans are vegetarians and an additional 22.8 million follow a vegetarian-inclined diet.

With that in mind as we prepare for Thanksgiving, I wanted to pass along TODAY Food Editor Vidya Rao’s vegan/vegetarian holiday recipe picks that are sure to please any palate – veggie inclined or not – at your Thanksgiving table.

Who takes care of mom when she's sick?

I've been sick for two weeks now, two very long weeks.  I finally called the doctor the other day and he called in a fabulous script for coughing.  The script along with Anancin has made it bearable.  Thankfully Superdad has been a great big help.  The Super Kids have been a great big help.  My Mamaw has been a great big help.  My mother-in-law has been amazing help.

Everyone has pitched in and gotten kids from schools, brought over Sprite, brought food and called to offer comforting words.  It's been really nice to have so many people do whatever it takes to make me feel better.  I’ve actually taken a few days off from the laptop.  I’ve been too busy sleeping and watching NCIS marathons.

Yes, I have a pile on my desk that needs to be done but I had to feel better before I could get any work done.
So, tomorrow, I will catch up on work and get ready for my Thanksgiving meal.

What about you?  Are you cooking?  Baking a dish to take somewhere?

AND?

Are you going Christmas shopping on Friday?

Supermom watched Breaking Dawn and now she’s going to blog about it.

**I watched the movie last night and now I want to talk about it.  This will have a lot of spoilers in it so if you don’t want to know then don’t read any more of this post.**

For years I joked about Twilight fans and their crazy senseless obsession with pale skinned vampires and hot boys morphing into wolves that spend most of their time without a shirt on.   Then I became one of those crazy fans that drool over young boys that I could very well be old enough to be their mother.  Okay, it would be a stretch if I was old enough to be their mom but it sure does feel wrong for me to day dream about their cool touch on my skin.  HA HA!  Yeah, I’m all about Edward while my teenage daughter is a huge Jacob fan.

See you Monday.

Cause that's how I roll.

I've been patiently waiting for Breaking Dawn to get here!!!  PATIENTLY!!!  Now, I cannot contain my excitement!!!  I bought tickets a week ago for this awesome event for the midnight showing!  Yes, I'm a Twilight Junkie! Team Edward all the way!!!!

This morning I got up and took a shower and put on my Team Edward t-shirt as I kissed my tickets for tonight, okay I didn't kiss my tickets but I probably will before the night is up!  I've never wanted to see a movie so bad that I would buy midnight tickets to see it!!!  YAY!!

Right now I'm listening to the Breaking Dawn soundtrack as I get chill bumps!  The long awaited marriage between Edward and Bella, the honeymoon and the birth of a child!  How exciting!!  I hope that the movie doesn't disappoint me because I have it a certain way in my mind and it's spectacular in my vision!!  SPECTACULAR!!!

So, I cannot wait for midnight tonight!  I'll be sitting in a movie theater probably holding a tissue as I sit on the edge of my seat!!  Along with so many other people who are huge fans like me!

Who else is going tonight??????

Eat Pray Love

It's been a slow process of reading my book but I finally finished the Pray part of the book about her time at the Ashram.  It was very hard for me to read at times I guess since I'm on a spiritual mission myself.  I underlined a few parts and I want to share them with you.
