The Vaseline Dry Skin Patrol in New York City

The Dry Skin Patrol has had the wonderful pleasure of being in the Big Apple for a couple of days before the Polar Bear Plunge on Coney Island New Years day.  It has been amazing for me since this is my first time in the city.  It's like being in a different world!  Just a total culture shock for a southern belle from North Carolina.

Even though I'm in the cold snowy weather I'm still only applying my lotion once a day after my shower.  Vaseline Intensive Rescue makes me feel so comfortable in my skin that I joined this mission to end your dry skin.  It has saved me.  I went from someone that suffered from dry skin wondering if it would be a day that I wouldn't want to me touched to someone who is all about being touched.  Would it be another day of icky-ness for me?  Would I try some new lotion and feel like a glazed donut?

I'm hear to tell you that Vaseline rescued my dry skin and I'm thrilled to be able to share my story with you!!!!  Who knew a Vaseline product review would turn into a webfilm and now touring with the Dry Skin Patrol?  A once in a life time opportunity in fact!

I want to take the time, again, to thank Vaseline!  Thank you for everything.  For running an 8k in Philadelphia, for skiing falling in Aspen and now for touring New York City and the Polar Bear Plunge!  And yet to come we have dog sledding in Duluth!!!

Thank you Vaseline.  You rock!

I want to wish everyone a HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!  I'm sitting in my hotel in Soho with a view of the Empire State Building out my bedroom window looking at pictures trying to decide a few to post.  Only a few, like five.   Okay four.  Then after my traveling is done I will do just a slide show.  Deal?

I'm a people watcher.

Come on admit it!  You know you're a people watcher too!  You do it at the Mall.  You do it at church.  You even do it at the grocery store.  The best place to watch people is at the airport!  I say this because I'm sitting at the Charlotte airport waiting for my jet plane to leave for NYC.  In two hours....

That means I have on an old Ipod listening to The White Stripes.  I love Jack White.  Poor Meg is always forgotten about since her 10 second sex tape hit the web.  Sorry Meg, but you know it's true.  I even admit that I watched it.  *hanging head in shame*  ANYWAY!!  I have actually seen them in concert thanks to Superdad.  He took me to see them when we were dating, here in Charlotte in fact.  How weird is that?

I'm people watching listening to Jack White sing Blue Orchid in the same city that Superdad took me to see their show when we were dating long ago.  That's got to mean something I'm sure in a round about way.  Right?

Okay, back to people watching.  I've been talking to people that have been stranded due to all the crazy snow on Christmas Day!  YIKES!  I see lots of frustrated people in fact.  I hate to admit that I got up a few short hours ago and boarded an on time flight and have no delays (to this point of my journey, that is).
"Oh, you've been snowed in in Asheville for the past three days.  Man, that stinks I'm sorry."

I sympathize in a different way!  Well, I've been snowed in with FOUR KIDS!  SO THERE!

I win, I win....skip skip skip.

Things have finally calmed down around me.  At least everyone is able to have a seat and prop their feet up.  Lots of tired people out and about.  I see people lugging their suitcases around with the only bit of energy that they have left.  Poor people.

I see lots of babies today!  WOW, it's like these women had a baby two weeks ago and traveled for Christmas.  I'm sorry but my girly parts would have to be healed 100% before I even thought about traveling with a newborn baby.  I just imagined a hormonal woman just giving birth two weeks earlier and traveling one of the busiest days EVER then having her meltdown on the airplane.  Wouldn't be pretty and I would have been that woman!  I could see myself trying to breastfeed the baby, have some smarta** make a comment and go all hormonal on them in the air.  It would have been all over the news!!!!   I'm just sayin'.

I also see lots of older people traveling today.  I admit that I saw the cutest older couple earlier and they made me think of Superdad and myself.  I hope that when we are older we will be able to travel together like that perhaps to see our grandkids.  Now, that's a lovely thought: traveling with Superdad, seeing our grandkids.

I think I will leave you on that thought.  After all, I do have over an hour until my next flight.

NYC!!  Watch out, because Supermom's coming to town!

Vaseline Dry Skin Patrol Heads to the Polar Bear Plunge on Coney Island.

Right about now I'm heading to the airport or already on an airplane heading to New York city.  I'm really excited about this trip because I haven't been to the big city before.  I have a list of things I'd like to do and see but not sure which ones I will be able to cross off my list.

* Ride the subway
* See Grand Central Station
* See the Statue of Liberty
* See Wall Street
* Visit historical places
* Eat some amazing food
* Rockefeller for ice skating and to see the Christmas tree

I'm sure I will get to check some off and enjoy things I haven't even thought about.  Our hotel is in Manhattan's Soho district.  The pics of the hotel look pretty swank if I get the room that has the view.  You know I will be taking lots of pictures like I've done in the past.

The #1 thing we will be doing in New York is spreading the word about Vaselines Intensive Rescue lotion!  It doesn't cover up your dry skin but heals it.  When I left Aspen I toted a whole case of samples home and have handed them out.  Every single person that got a sample has told me how much they love it!  I will bring home another case to hand out again so if you want one just let me know.

Special Occasion for saying the F word #2

I'm using all the energy I can find to type up this blog post.  Since I am a very dedicated blogger I couldn't let my fans down.  Just know I'm very sick.  I feel like death sick.  I'm propped up in the chair in the living room listening to a Christmas movie while eyeing the trash can at my feet.

I'm not sure if it's food poisoning or a tummy bug.  We ended up going out to eat last night to get the kids (ME) out of the house and play in the snow.  I had an extremely spicy chicken sandwich for dinner because I love hot stuff and I was craving something to party in my mouth.  ha ha

I told Superdad about the "Party in my Mouth" but he wasn't thinking food at first.  *shaking head as I smile*

Long story semi short, I woke up close to 11 pm with my stomach on FIRE!!!!!  I am completely serious.  My stomach needed  a 911 call to put out the flames.  So, I laid on the couch in agonizing pain eating zofran like candy and sipping 7 Up.  Then the Zofran caused a headache so I had to take something for my headache.

I didn't sleep at all last night.  I watched crap TV like Three's Company, Golden Girls, Bridges of Madison County (I cried like a baby watching that movie) and even sunk so low as to watch an infomercial with Heidi Klum.  I would have probably called and ordered the product but that would have required me to find Superdad's credit card and well it was like 3 am in the morning.

It didn't let up and all I could do was cry.

I cried a lot.

This morning, without having any sleep, I crawl into bed and moan, groan and cry.  I was in so much pain.  When the doctors office opened I called them for help.  Superdad then turned right back around, he had just gotten to work, and hit the drugstore for me to buy the things the nurse told me to try.

I had chewed up the most potent Maalox on the shelf and waited.  Then I threw up.  I hate throwing up.  Hugging the porcelain throne.  However you want to say it.  At this time I had Superdad call the doc's office again to tell them my prognosis had changed and I was now throwing up.  *OH JOY*

They were super nice and going to call in some Phenergan.  Then it became a waiting game for them to call it in because you now how doctors are.  I even had Superdad call again to speed the process up for me.  It worked.  They called back a few minutes later to tell him they had called it in.

I'm so sick.  Very sick.  I have to get better because I fly on a jet plane Thursday morning for New York City!

This is my special occasion for saying the F word.  Close your eyes cause I'm going to talk like a drunken sailor.

"When do I get a f***ing break?"

Family is what it's all about.

I wanted to take a moment to talk about "The Hens" because they are super special to me.

For as long as I can remember the three sisters have been called "The Hens".  I'm not sure who started it but it suits them.

We were all together Christmas Eve at my Dad's house to celebrate and be together as a family.  Three generations all sitting on a couch.  Actually I squeezed my butt on a fraction of the couch as my great aunt Wanda is trying to tickle me on my side.  See her hand?

First, you see Crazy Beautiful H who is my oldest daughter at the awesome age of 16.

Then you see my Mamaw who turned 80 this year.  I've spoken about my Mamaw too many times to count on this blog.  My Mamaw is the most special person in my life and I hope to be just like her when I get to be 80.  She's got spunk and tells you like it is.  She is my hero.

Next is Great Aunt Kat.  (Don't tell on me because I am going to tell you her age.)  She is 82.  Great Aunt Kat lives across the street from my Mamaw and they are always together.  They have always done everything together from eating meals to family vacations.  I kid you not when I say everything together.  Even now they continue to go on family vacations with us.  They get such joy being with my four kids!!!  Since Great Aunt K lost her husband to lung cancer a few years ago she needs Mamaw for everything.  Two Peas in a Pod.

Then there's Great Aunt Wanda.  (Shhhh, she is 84.) Great Aunt Wanda is the clown in the family.  She calls your house using different voices and she will dress up as a clown for your birthday.  Yes, she dressed up as a clown at Mamaw's 80th birthday party!  I have pictures to prove it!  Wanda reminds me of their mom, who I called Mamaw Freeman.  She died before I became a teen but the memories I have of her are wonderful.  I can still remember enjoying warm pound cake at her kitchen table.  So, anyway Wanda looks just like their mother.

They had a baby brother, who was 78, but he died earlier this year.

Every occasion "The Hens" get together and it's amazing!!!  They have gotten to know my children and most of all my children have gotten to know them.  I've gotten to know them.  I'm so blessed.

Since I have three daughters hopefully one day they can carry on "The Hens" tradition.  I think that would be awesome.

Got Snow? Want some? I can hook you up.

Snow Part 1.
Taken shortly after is started snowing Christmas Day morning.

Snow Part 1

Snow Part 2.
Taken yesterday afternoon.

Snow Part 2

Snow Part 3.
Taken this morning when we woke up.

Snow Part 3

Sunday Morning.

Girls just want to have fun.

That's how the song goes and I believe it to be true.  Especially when you are talking about a 2 1/2 year old!!!  This was the first Christmas that Baby M was really excited about Santa coming and this whole opening presents on Christmas morning thing.  Lil O was excited as well about Santa coming and the magic behind it all.  Her belief is very strong right now since we did just have the tooth fairy come to our house.

It was wonderful!!!!!!

After setting the reindeer food on the front porch and leaving cookies and milk for Santa out I tried to get them in bed!!!!!!  It took them forever to go to sleep!  Lil O's four hour nap didn't help the situation at all!!  I thought she'd never go back to sleep.  Then I fell asleep holding her hand and nursing Baby M and I didn't want to get up.  Until I realized what I had to do!  That jolted me up rather quickly!

Santa was rather loud last night due to how they package toys.  Not only is it guaranteed to not move during shipment but it is nearly impossible for parents to open as well.  It took me forever to open the pink guitar for Baby M.  It was the only major thing she has been asking for since Santa was mentioned.

You know your kid has an imagination when she using a fly swatter as a guitar!  Yep, she does.  I was super happy to find the pink guitar for her.  I knew she'd love it.

I was right.

Literally she hasn't put it down!  She jams out like a true professional!  It's awesome!!!!!!!

I've never seen Baby M so happy over a toy!!!!!!

This Christmas has been truly amazing.  I was so blessed to spend it with my loving family.  So blessed. We made memories that will last a lifetime.

I'll trade you two Jacobs for one Edward.

You know you're a Twilight junkie when you get Twilight trading cards in your Christmas stocking!

Yep, H and I both got Twilight trading cards this morning.  Pretty sweet I'd say!

I gave her my Jacob cards because he is soooo not my guy!  Now I have a perfect picture of Edward that will fit amazingly in my wallet!!

Yeah, that's how I roll.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas Eve

I wanted to take this time to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas Eve today as you spend time with your family and friends.

I'm so blessed to have already spent time with my family today.  I've had an amazing Christmas lunch with all the fixings at my dad's house.  YUMMY!!!  It was delicious!!!!!   Then we went to visit with my mom and granny and more family after that!

Now we are resting at home.  I'm hoping to find the A Christmas Story marathon and lounge on the couch.  Ahhhhh.

Then after everyone goes to bed we get to prepare for the big guys visit!!!!

*speaking of middle of the night visitors*

Lil O woke me up this morning to show me the pretty flowers the tooth fairy left her and to show me the two $2.00 bills that were under her pillow.  She was shocked that the tooth fairy got in without waking anyone up.  I assured her that I didn't hear anything at all during the night.  She then looked up into the sky and whispered, "thank you".  It was adorable to see my daughter give thanks for her blessings.

It's always important to remember to give thanks for all the amazing things in our life.

I wish you a wonderful evening/night ! !

Supermom was PUNKED!!!!!

My friend Monica came over today to celebrate her birthday, which is tomorrow, and then Christmas with my kids. I'd been hearing bits and pieces about gifts and such because we talk like a million times a day on the phone or by texting.  ha ha

So she gets here and we are exchanging gifts having a great time.  Lil O loves her Aunt Monica.

I made Monica a scarf for her birthday.

Monica has started a Christmas tradition with my kids.  She is getting them Christmas ornaments every year.

Last years:

This year we all got Cardinals!!  I love Cardinals.  B2 got a hedgehog ornament!  Love them!!!

So Monica is handing out gifts for the kids.

Then she has a special treat for me.  She knows I love peanut butter cups!!!  To have filler in the beautiful basket she used PEANUT BUTTER CUPS!!!!!!  SEE:

Oh, these babies are all mine!!  ALL MINE!!!  Let me make that clear.  A L L M I N E ! ! !

*smiling*

After all of this Monica hands me a card telling me that she's arranged for my Christmas present to come when I get back from New York City.  Let me add that she's been making comments on the phone about getting my gift delivered.  I figured it was meat, who doesn't love a big piece of meat, fruit or veggies.  I even thought a flower or a tree to plant.

There was a piece of paper in the card folded up and on the outside it read.

What could it be????

I open and start to read!!!  I'm all excited!!!  "You're getting me chickens?  I love chickens!!!  You're really getting me chickens?!??!"  I'm tearing up.  I'm also thinkking, "OMG Monica just gave me two chickens!!!"  Then I'm thinking, "OMG I cannot have chickens in city limits."  Then I'm thinking, "OMG Superdad is going to kill me and then kill her!!!!"

Here's the papers that were folded in my card.

You may not be able to read them but I was able tooo!!!!  If you hadn't noticed I love chickens and buy local free range eggs and all!!!!!!

Supermom was PUNKED!!

I'm sad to say that I won't be getting any chickens!!!!  SNIFF SNIFF!!!!

It was an awesome prank though.

You know what they say?

Payback is a bitch.

The Tooth Fairy

We are so excited that Lil O has lost her first tooth!!!!  She didn't even tell us!!  This morning she came into the bedroom and was talking up a storm.  I noticed it first thing.  I said, "Smile for me".  She did and this is what I saw:

Every single time I see her talk with that missing tooth I just want to cry because she is so damn adorable!!!!!!!!!  I love it!!!!!

I also feel like crying because my baby is growing up.  She's gotten her ears pierced and now lost her first tooth.  Sniff sniff.  Next thing she will be picking out her dress for prom.

I'm excited because I haven't been the tooth fairy in years!!!!!  YAY!!!!  I'm going to do it big!!  I'm going to find some glitter or confetti and have fun with it tonight!!!!  I don't know who's more excited, Lil O or me????  I'm guessing her right now but tonight I will be more excited.  Then tomorrow we can be excited together!

Wordless Wednesday

I always see awesome Wordless Wednesday posts on other blogs so I thought that I would jump on board.  I even made a snazzy graphic to go along with it.

I'm posting this picture that Superdad took one night last week.  We love our family bed.

Breastfeeding Rocks!

I am a big advocate for breastfeeding!!  I've been very blessed to breastfeed all four of my children and currently still nurse Baby M.  Baby M is 2 1/2 and she nurses at naptime and bedtime.  More for comfort than nutrition.

Yesterday I get an anonymous comment on one of my Week in Reviews that happens to have Baby M asking for ninny in it.

Here's the video in question:

Here's the anonymous comment:

"WOW!!!! You are breastfeeding a child that can ask for it??? Thats a little odd!!!"

Of course I had to allow the anonymous comment to post so I could comment back with this:

Anonymous ~
Nope, not odd at all. It is a personal preference and sadly society looks down on breastfeeding moms. What a shame that a mother giving her baby the best is judged by others. You don't see bottle fed babies judged by sucking a bottle after two years old, do you?
Even young babies that have been taught sign language can ask for ninny before the age of one.
I think breastfeeding is an amazing gift and I am extremely proud to have breastfed all four of my babies.
Also, a former surgeon general of the US has commented that it is a lucky child who continues to be breastfed until age two.
BREASTFEEDING ROCKS and I'm sorry you thought it odd.
To each his own.

Why does society have to be so judgmental when it comes to a nursing mother since it is very demanding to have a nursing child.  It isn't a walk in the park and takes dedication to be a full time nursing mother.

*shrug*

So, breastfeeding moms I'd love to hear your input.

~ Why did you choose to breastfeed?
~ How long did you breastfeed?
~ How did you handle the stupid comments from others about your choice?

I chose to breastfeed because I knew it was best for my babies and it was super special bonding time with them.  It was only something that I could do for them and I loved that!!  I loved being able to provide them the nourishment that they needed to grow.

I breast fed H for three years, B for a year, Lil O for 2 1/2 years (she weaned herself) and I am still nursing Baby M who is 2 1/2.

I handle stupid questions by blogging about it and hearing what others have to say about breastfeeding.

Your turn.

PS.  I'm off to check all my stat counters to see who sent the comment so I can send them a breastfeeding book.

The Dry Skin Patrol in Aspen

Check out the new video of the Dry Skin Patrol in Aspen!

Medicated Blogging

One of the perks of a kidney stone is the medication they give you.  Yeah, believe it or not there are perks to a kidney stone.  I guess that's the only perk.

Today I can tell the stone is making its way through my body because the pain is moving.  If you've had a kidney stone before then you know exactly what I am talking about.  All there is to do is drink, drink, drink, take pain medication and then drink some more.  When I say drink I mean water.  I've heard that beer is awesome for a kidney stone but I cannot see mixing beer and pain medications together.

At least not this very moment.

I may change my mind if this pain keeps up.  *sigh*

I just had a phone conference about the Dry Skin Patrol Polar Bear Plunge on New Years Day on Coney Island.  I'm really excited about this trip!!!  I've never been to New York City before!   It's exciting!!!  Our hotel is in Manhattan's SoHo district.  *squealing like a girl*

I may not be physically fit to run an 8K or have the skill to ski but I know I can jump in water.  This is one thing I know I can do!  I'm actually pretty excited about the plunge.  It will be something that I can tell my grandkids that I have done in my lifetime.

Since I am medicated and all I thought it would be a good time to share some pictures from Sunday.  We headed over to the Grove Park Inn to see the Gingerbread Houses and to visit grandma.

So you want to be a MILF?

On my recent Philadelphia trip the subject of MILF came up.  I found it rather interesting to find out that other moms secretly hope to be in MILF in their neighborhood.

I've been thinking of what the requirements would be to be the MILF in your neighborhood.

1 ~ To prance around in form fitting clothes (or sexy lingerie) all day in 3 inch heels.  Yes, that does mean waking up before dawn and applying your make-up before fixing the kids breakfast.

2 ~ To actually have a curvy body.  As in curves in the right places.  Curves from having a baby don't count.

3 ~ To have long flowing perfect hair.

4 ~ You get bonus points if you have an amazing accent like Sofia from the Modern Family.

*hilarious laugh*  I'm here to say that I am NONE of the above.

You will mostly find me in pj's and slippers when I'm at home.  I will even take the kids to school in my pj's and robe.  Make-up for me is only applied when I am leaving the house.  Plus, I think I look pretty without make-up so I only wear just a little bit anyway.  All the curves I have are from having four children and they are all in the wrong places.  My hair is short and spiky and most likely styled like I just got out of bed.  Plus, the only accent I have is southern.  Like in y'all and youins'.

There you have it.  Sniff sniff.  I guess I will never be a MILF.

That's okay though because I am Supermom.

I took this picture of me on Sunday.  I didn't even photoshop it!!!  This is just a plain jane picture without touch-ups.

Famous MILFS:

Stifler's Mom played by Jennifer Coolidge

and most recently watching Modern Family you have to include Sofia Vergara.

I think Sofia Vergara is a total BABE!!!  She is totally a MILF by all accounts.

So, lets be honest, deep down do you want to be considered a MILF?

It never looks the same way twice.

Every time I sit down and enjoy the Christmas tree it never looks the same way twice.  I think I have two elves, Lil O and Baby M, changing things around on me.  Sometimes all the candy canes will be in one spot.  Other times all the snowmen will be in the same area.  Then all of the snowflakes will be in a group.  It's rather comical.  Instead of musical chairs I have the musical Christmas tree.  I never know what to expect when the music stops.  Or in this case, when I turn the lights on.

This will go down in the Christmas memory book for future use, like the retelling during their wedding reception in the toast.  I should totally mess with them tonight and put all the ornaments toward the top of the tree leaving the bottom part empty.  HA HA!!

*knocking on wood*  There has been no more throwing up today.  I've fumigated the bedroom and changed all the sheets and washed all the blankets.

I still feel icky but I know it's in my head from the smell of last night.  Or it better be!  I was able to nap today with Baby M so I feel like I just "started" my day about an hour ago.  I hate feeling this way.  Like I am totally behind and haven't accomplished anything today.  Then I remember that I was up and down during the night holding my five hear olds hair while she was throwing up.  Yeah, there is that.

They say God will only give you as much as you can handle.

Well I must be one strong woman is all I can say.

It's 2:48 am and I have the washer and dryer going because an hour after I laid my head on my comfy pillow I wake up because Lil O is throwing up in her bed.  Her bed is beside my bed....

The first time she threw up I just gathered everything, including her special never without blanket, and threw it all in the washer.  I fixed her bed back with clean everything and tried to go back to bed.

It didn't work.

I got up and came into the living room to watch the Burn Notice finale that had been recorded Thursday.  This will be when the kitchen light blew so I had to dig for another one, drag a dining room chair in the kitchen and then change the bulb.

After watching my show I make my way back to the bedroom to crawl into my bed.  Lil O is already in my spot.  Then I smell it.  She had thrown up again, not waking Superdad, then just crawled into our bed to go back to sleep.

So, that's the load I'm washing now.  I feel sick to my stomach but I know it's just from "smelling" her throw up.

I have her resting on the couch watching cartoons with a trash can beside her.

I'm sitting in my chair...thinking....

Today has been awful not having heat.  The furnace guy chose not to come by and didn't have the courtesy to call and tell us and we wouldn't have known unless Superdad hadn't of called to see what was up since it was after 4 pm.  Needless to say we will not be calling him again or referring him to anyone.  We have heat now so that's all that matters.  Thanks to H's dad!!  He came by to get H and played a big role in getting the boiler up and running again.

I'm not going to sit here and moan and groan about everything that has gone wrong because I'm still able to sit here in my comfy chair and express my feelings online.

I just cannot wait until morning so I can change my sheets and fumigate my bedroom and then the couch.

Kids and germs.  Germs and kids.

I'm freezing what God gave me off!

I thought that sounded better than, "I'm freezing my ass off."  This morning we woke up to an extremely cold house.  We just had oil delivered and our boiler serviced 4 weeks and 5 days ago, yes I counted!  So what's up with this???

I have a cold and my runny nose is forming icicles. This is no laughing matter.  Baby M, who is the nudist in the family, will not keep her clothes on!!!  I see her in a diaper, hold her down and put her clothes on her for her to rip the off as I am walking away.  The goober!!  So what, she may freeze to death.  It doesn't seem to bother her so why should it bother me.  *shrug*

Thankfully there was school today, a two hour delay.  Whew.  Seriously I was going to require a stronger medication, or vodka, had they stayed home again today.  So they've missed three days of school and had 2 two hour delays the other two days!!!  Lots of 2's in that sentence.  *smile*

So here I sit, in a cold house drinking warm coffee because as soon as I pour my coffee it starts to get cold.  I have the baby dancing around to the Veggies so at least the blood is flowing and keeping her warm.  I do care you see if she freezes to death.

What the hell....  I am Supermom.  Or at least I claim to be.

*Counting on fingers*

It's eight days until Christmas and I cannot drag myself away from the computer to crochet those last few gifts for the kids in the family.  There's always tomorrow right?  Or money in a Christmas card??!?!  I'm just sayin'.

Okay, must go wait for the furnace man to come again.  If you don't hear from me soon then send hot guys with blankets to my house.  I'd like that.  A LOT!!!

Week in Review. Two videos for your viewing pleasure.

Shhhhhh, I'm hiding from the kids in my bed under the covers.  Today is three days of missed school just THIS week!!!!  Yes, that means they only had school one day so far this week.

I'm sick again!

We have snow and ice.

Nine days until Christmas.

Two weeks until New York City for the Vaseline Dry Skin Patrol.

Kailani and I are going to best Italian Restaurant in NYC.  Del Posto, a Mario Batali restaurant.  YUMMY!!!

Then Rockefeller Plaza to see the Christmas tree and ice skate.

Okay, I must go before they find me.

Okay, not five minutes later did someone pull the covers off of me and act like a rooster.  See for yourself because I had the camera in my hand so I just hit record.

Yeah, about that.

I was all excited that there was school today even if it was a two hour delay.  Then the dreaded phone call came that school had been canceled all together.  Yay, for me.  Said in sarcastic tone while curled up in the fetal position as I start to twitch.

So, I've had four kids miss 3 out of 4 days of school this week.  The older kids are completely fine if they have unlimited time on the computer, TV or phone but the babies are another story.  The five year old LOVES to annoy the crap out of her older siblings.  She really gets great pleasure in being a brat.  Then the baby gets great pleasure in annoying the five year old.  She loves to pull her hair!

Which leaves me, yelling telling them to stop and leave each other alone.  Yeah, I know they are useless threats and never get heard.  What's a parent to do?

My suggestion, selective hearing.  I do it all the time.  As long as I don't hear a blood curdling scream or see blood then they are on their own.  Know what I mean?  A mother knows the difference between a "fake" cry and a "I'm really hurt" cry.  We also know the cry that an older sibling has hurt the younger one and will run to defend their honor so to speak.

I'm trying to have patience but I really cannot find any extra around.  I'm sick and don't feel well.  I just want all the kids to listen with their listening ears and help a mommy out.

My advice to them:

Suck up and deal!

Superdad loves Supermom

Thank you honey.  I hope to be in a better mood when you get home from work.  I hope....

More:

I'm addicted to tissue with Vicks.  I will require therapy.

Cough drop wrappers turned into motivational tools?

Seriously !??!! Really ?!??!??!

Let's just call this VENT Wednesday, shall we?

Superdad dropped Charter last week and got Direct TV.  I think it's Direct TV, we have a dish outside now and like a gazillion stations now.  We also have that awesome pause, rewind and record options for all our shows.  LOVE IT!!  I went through the movie channels and recorded some movies for a rainy day just for me.  :)

Last night we sat down to eat dinner and the kids had actually paused a Spongebob Cartoon.  SERIOUSLY!?!?  REALLY ??!??!  It's a cartoon and you know a rerun that they have seen 100's of times.  NO MORE PAUSING CARTOONS! ! ! ! ! !  And don't even think about recording cartoons either!!!!!   I can understand recording a brand new never seen before episode BUT if you are recording a 1998 Spongebob then we have a problem.

For pete's sake record something good like a Will Ferrell movie!!!!!  Right?

I'M TIRED OF BEING SICK!??!??!  SERIOUSLY!?!??  REALLY !??!?!  How much more can I take?  It's becoming a repeat from last winter with me sick every other couple days with a new cold.  I'm totally whining like a sick man!!  Yes, I feel that bad.  You know when I whine I must be on my death bed because I am not a whiner.  I talked to Superdad a little while ago and asked him to bring home more cold meds, menthol cough drops and the tissue with the Vicks in them.  I told him they were yummy for the nose!!!!  I coined another phrase.  "Vicks are yummy for your nose.  By.  Supermom"

The house is upside down which is proof I feel so bad.  I'm a perfectionist when it comes to a clean organize house and well right now my house does not pass my inspection.  Toys don't count there.  We do a 10 minute tidy every now and then and get that under control.  HA HA!!  I lie.  I end up fussing because I've stepped on a toy because it hasn't been picked up after the 20th time I've asked for it to be picked up.

ALSO, this weather is driving me absolutely batty!!  Last week the kids missed two days of school and, so far, this week they missed two days of school.  Today was a delay for my two oldest.  Get this.  MORE BAD WEATHER is on the way and we are going to get ice/sleet tonight.  So, perhaps no school tomorrow.  SERIOUSLY?!??!  REALLY??!??!?!?!??!  I'm going to prepare just in case we lose power tonight or tomorrow.  I can handle all the snow that's thrown at us but ice scares me.

So, yeah, I feel like crap.

Christmas is 10 days away and Superdad hasn't finished my list.  I still have crocheting to do for a few special gifts!

Someone come kick me off the computer and tell me to get my butt in gear!  SERIOUSLY!?!?!?  REALLY!??!??!

What's your favorite Christmas song?

I had a friend ask me last night what was my favorite Christmas song.  I didn't even have to think about it because the song has never changed in over 17 years.

Silent Night

Silent night, holy night
All is calm, all is bright
Round yon Virgin Mother and Child
Holy Infant so tender and mild
Sleep in heavenly peace
Sleep in heavenly peace

Silent night, holy night!
Shepherds quake at the sight
Glories stream from heaven afar
Heavenly hosts sing Alleluia!
Christ, the Saviour is born
Christ, the Saviour is born

Silent night, holy night
Son of God, love's pure light
Radiant beams from Thy holy face
With the dawn of redeeming grace
Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth
Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth

This is the song I hum to calm a crying baby.  This is the song I hum to get a baby to sleep.  No matter what time of the year it is, this song comforts me.  I especially love hearing it at Christmas.

What's your favorite Christmas song?

PS.  There are 11 days until Christmas just in case you need a reminder.

Supermoms Best of 2010

I've been taking notes all year about the "Best of" to blog about at the end of the year or on December 14, 2010.  I want to share my experience about the new things that have made my life much better.  ha ha

1 ~ Vaseline Intensive Rescue Lotion

Well, duh this is a given.  Doing a product review turned into a commercial and then being on the Vaseline Dry Skin Patrol.  Being on the Dry Skin Patrol has allowed me to meet so many great people and travel to some amazing places.  Stay at amazing places.  Eat amazing food.  Not to mention all the great care they are taking care of me.  I do feel famous.  If you suffer from dry skin then you will want to try Vaseline Intensive Rescue Lotion because it doesn't cover up your dry skin but heals it.

2 ~ Earth Science Aloe Vera Complexion Toner & Refresher

I bought this product at Earth Fare and love how it makes my face feel.  It doesn't have the astringent that most toners have so it doesn't make my face burn.  I use it when I get up, when I take a bath and when I just want to freshen up after a long day.

3 ~ Made From Earth Rosehip & Hibiscus Organic Face Serum

I was actually sent this product to review and I've been using it ever since!!!!  I put it on before I use my face lotion and it just gives my face and neck an all over smoothness.

4 ~ Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn

I'm a Twilight freak now but also in good company.  I've read all four books, Breaking Dawn I've actually read twice.  I have a "Team Edward" t-shirt and a Twilight tote bag.

I will admit that I will be in line to watch Breaking Dawn when it hits theaters next year.

I love you Edward!!!!!

5 ~ Taco Boy

We've heard rumors about how wonderful this restaurant was and we were finally able to eat there on our last Folly Beach trip.  We actually ate there twice, days apart from each other, on our trip.

Everything is made in house and they don't even own a freezer!!!  The food was awesome!!!  If you are ever near a Taco Boy in the Charleston or Folly Beach area then you must stop and eat there.

PS.  Get a margarita with your meal!!  I got two!  See the enjoyment on my face?

                                           Folly Beach

6 ~ Aspen

This goes with the opportunities that Vaseline has given me.  I absolutely loved Aspen.  It is one of the most beautiful places I have ever visited  and I've been places.

The Limelight Lodge was awesome and if I ever make it back to Aspen that's where I would want to stay.  I would also want to eat at Jimmy's again.

I had their crab cake appetizer and their fillet mignon for dinner.  O. M. G.  It doesn't get any better than that!!!

I would hit the slopes again but only to watch my family try to ski.  I'd be one of those snow bunnies sitting in front of the fireplace enjoying a drink as I stayed warm.

7 ~ Meeting Wendie Malick

Again, I have to thank Vaseline for this opportunity!  I was able to meet the beautiful talented Wendie Malick when we were in Aspen because she is on the Dry Skin Patrol too!!!  She even asked me if I was The Adventures of Supermom!!!!  I thought that was totally cool.

I've been a huge fan ever since Just Shoot Me and she probably thinks I'm a dork because I told her that! HA HA!!  I couldn't help it.  I loved her character in Just Shoot Me as Nina Van Horn.  I also confided in her that my brother in law had a huge crush on her.  I asked her if I could take a picture to send him, she let me.  She was just so wonderful and I enjoyed spending the day with her and Dr.  Jessica Wu.

8 ~ Dr. Jessica Wu is also on my Best of 2010 list!!  She was super nice to us and offered great skin advice for us.  I asked her about the bags under my eyes that seem to run in my family on both sides.  Unfortunately nothing can be done about them at this time since it is all genetics.

9 ~ Lil O starting the Montessori School.

At first I was super sad that my baby was old enough to start school.  We were extremely lucky to find an opening in the Montessori School for her for Kindergarten.  Even if we are having to pay tuition for her to go there.  It is 100% worth it.  At first Lil O had a hard time adjusting but now she LOVES going to school!!  It's awesome all the things she has learned and the things she continues to learn at such a young age.

All of us are so proud of our Lil O.

10 ~ My Mamaw turning 80

Lil O, H and Mamaw

We all know how I feel about my Mamaw.  She is the most amazing woman I know and I hope to be just like her when I am 80!!!  I love you Mamaw.

This concludes my "Best of 2010" list.  If I think of anything else I will just add it to my "Best of 2011" list.  (No, I will add them to the list so you might want to come back to see if I've added anything throughout the day.)
