The most excruciating pain ever!!! **TMI alert!**

Yesterday I noticed my left breast was SORE.  As the day went along it went from sore to NO ONE GET WITHIN FIVE MILES OF MY LEFT BREAST!!!!!!  Oh the excruciating pain!!!!!!  I’ve never had anything like this happen to me!!!  I’m a breastfeeding pro!!!  We aren’t supposed to have things like this happen.

So, I started to realize what was going on.  This wasn’t because of Baby M latching on wrong.  This wasn’t because Baby M bit me.  This wasn’t because I haven’t worn a bra in a couple days.

I have a clogged milk duct or two.  My poor left breast.  Sniffle.  I took some meds and retired to a hot bath.  The water helped so much.  Then I offered my breast to Baby M every chance she would let me.  Most of the time she would turn her head and go on her way back to playing not wanting to nurse.  I even offered my breast to Lil O who looked at me like I was freaking crazy!!!!!  I’m sure I would have offered it to anyone that happened to come over at this point.  Whew, glad that no one came over BTW.

It was the most awful pain I have ever felt.  I speak the truth here.  After two vaginal births, two cesarean births, kidney stones and assorted surgeries I know this to be true.  Once Baby M pushed on my breast to get comfy and I screamed out with pain then cried.  Oh, the PAIN!!!

I plugged up my handy dandy heating pad and retired to my bed with Baby M and her glow worm.  (More on that later.)  The heat helped so much.  I slept with the heating pad last night and offered Baby M my sore breast any chance I felt her move in the bed.  HA HA!!!

So this morning I think it feels better.  There are a couple lumps there and it’s not as sore as yesterday.  The heat helps so I have already been on the heating bad.  I wonder if the “warm milk” will make Baby M sleepy.  HA HA!!!!  I hope that this resolves itself on its own because I really don’t want to call my doctor over this.

Anyway…. NO ONE COME WITHIN THREE MILES OF MY LEFT BREAST TODAY!!!!!!

More about Baby M and the Glow Worm.  I always thought they were creepy little critters.  Their face all lit up as they played lullabies for the baby.  Well, it has become Baby M’s favorite “baby”.  She carries it everywhere.  She even plays the music as she nurses to go to sleep.  It’s rather adorable.  Baby M loves her Glow Worm.  Can we all say “Awwwwwwww” together?  I’ve even had to change the batteries already!!!!!!!!!!

A little something I have been working on:

Crocheted Scarf

Crocheted Baby Sweater

I hope your boob feels better. Should I send it a "Get Well Soon" e-card?

Cheers,
Brian

I have had several clogged milk ducts. Mine are always in my arm pit though. Go figure... Lol. They get sore but mine never hurt like yours! The first one I got I did think I had breast cancer though! I freaked! Then in an hour or so I realized what it was. Atleast I didn't call my doctor and tell her I had breast cancer! That would have been embarassing!

I've had full blown mastitis 5 times... and never one time when they were little babies... always when they were around 18 months old. Stand in a hot shower with the water pummeling your boob and massage the duct while pushing the milk out. Whenever I get a plugged duct if I'm really proactive with that it will clear it up before it gets infected.

In this one instance, I'm glad I don't have boobs.

Cabbage leaves put a couple of them in the appropriate bra cup - put the cup on and leave it for a while. It works - you smell a bit cabbagey but it works :)
