Smut News. I call it like I see it!

I was reading People and came across these two stories!

Michael Phelps has taken another lap with his girlfriend – a big one. She's spending Thanksgiving in Baltimore with him and his family.

The Olympic champ has been dating Las Vegas cocktail waitress Caroline "Caz" Pal, 26, for about two months. The two met after his record-setting performance in Beijing last summer.

Phelps is spending time in Vegas working on his poker game.

A Priceless Thanksgiving.

Two Days of Cooking:

Thanksgiving 2008

Cooking the Thanksgiving meal all by yourself and sharing it with your family.

Here is a slide show I threw together so I wouldn't have to copy and paste 21 codes for these pictures I want to share. There are food pictures and family photos. ENJOY!

Happy Thanksgiving!

From my family to yours.

I hope you have a Happy Thanksgiving and eat lots of great food!

I spent all day yesterday cooking and will start again soon.

PS. About Christmas Compacting

I wanted to mention something about my kids making their list. As mentioned before I said we would get three things off their list. I want to add that my kids just didn't think of the most expensive things they could put on the list.

They put things like posters for my room and trading cards.
I love my kids. They are great!

Once you go Swiffer you never go back.

I guess you can tell what I just finished doing! I love my Swiffer. I worship it actually. Our house is all HARDWOOD and TILE floors so the Swiffer works out fabulously! No I am not getting paid to share my love of Swiffers with you. However if anyone is reading this at Swiffer, how about hooking a Supermom up? (the kind without Febreeze though, they streak my floors)

Let me go over the things I have done so far today and what is left to do. K?

Made the yeast rolls. Made the sweet potato casserole--just have to add the pecan crust and bake a bit more. Made the broccoli casserole--just have to add the RITZ crackers and bake a bit more. Deviled the eggs. Chopped up the carrots, celery, onions and garlic for the turkey tomorrow. Made the dressing--it just has to be cooked. Made the creamed corn.

To do later. Make two pumpkin pies. Shower. Sit on the couch for the rest of the night.

I hope that everyone is enjoying their day!

Thanksgiving In The Making

Previous totals equal $90.71

Today's total for heavy cream, thyme and the turkey breast equal $49.08

How much we spent of our first Thanksgiving feast that I will be cooking by myself!!!!!!

Tomorrow let the cooking begin.

Starting a Compacting Christmas Tradition.

I have been telling you about our my compacting journey over the past few weeks. I have cut out all impulse buying! The test came yesterday when I was at my favorite place ever!!! Target! I have been to Paris. I have eaten at the Eiffel Tower. I saw a painting of the Eiffel Tower. Thought it would look fabulous in my dining room beside my china cabinet. I have lived in this house for over 4 years and have put ZERO on the walls except some wedding pictures. Oh, and a mirror few months ago. HA HA! I picked up the picture. Admired the picture. Hung it back up and walked away! I am awesome!

I have been talking about Christmas for weeks with my family. I asked the kids to make a list of thinks they might want from us. I told them they would be getting three things off the list and of course something from Santa. I also found something cute and small for their stockings. That means 5 gifts per child and of course candy for the stockings.

Christmas isn't about HOW MANY PRESENTS CAN WE BUY AND GO IN DEBT. Really it isn't. I know we have been brought up this way. It doesn't have to be that way.

I am guessing there will be two gifts per parent as well. I picked up something for the kids to give Superdad and then I will buy him a gift. I also picked up something they can give me from him. LOL

We have everything we could ever hope for. Each other. :) The rest is just gravy as they say.

What are your Christmas plans? What do you think about all this BUY BUY MUST BUY MORE attitude?

I wanted to mention something about my kids making their list. As mentioned before I said we would get three things off their list. I want to add that my kids just didn't think of the most expensive things they could put on the list.

They put things like posters for my room and trading cards.
I love my kids. They are great!

Adding to Thanksgiving

$24.40 + $40.00 + $26.31 + $90.71

Today I added 8 ears of fresh corn, 2 garlic bulbs, carrots, celery, 3 onions, pecans, sweet potatoes and gallon size freezer bags.

The gallon size bags are for the homemade yeast rolls I am going to make. I have decided to make them on Wednesday because this process with take HOURS. The dough has to rest and rise SO MANY TIMES! The recipe says they can be made ahead of time them put in the oven to warm them up.

What's left to buy:

fresh thyme, heavy cream and the turkey breast

Awww, Gordon!!! ~sobbing~

I have this mad crush on Gordon Ramsay! I am sure my husband had great pleasure in emailing me this:

Gordon Ramsay's 'seven-year affair': TV chef who fostered a family image is accused of adultery

I am going to go send Gordon an email and tell him how upset the news has made me. If only I could call his cell.....

~insert smile here~

Supermom has a question. Wanna Help?

I'm debating about a Christmas Tree. Not about putting one, I am going to put a tree up. I am thinking about buying one of those 4 ft trees and setting it up on something, away from my 7 month old baby and a certain 3 year old girl.

Does this make me not in the Christmas spirit? I just don't want to drag out that HUGE tree and then sit by it 24 hours a day to make sure a baby or toddler doesn't KNOCK it over breaking my ANTIQUE ornaments that have been handed down to me by my mamaw.

Whatever you do, DON'T EAT THE POPCORN!

B2 is in scouts. As you know they sell popcorn every year. Have you been suckered into buying a tin? You know you have! Don’t be ashamed! HA HA!

Since I am the proud mom of a scout it is required that I buy a couple of popcorn tins. Yes, it is in the small print upon joining them. I bought the big cans this year. TWO BIG CANS. I spent $90.00 for an assortment of different flavored popcorn, chocolate covered peanuts and pretzels. Before you gasp realize that 5 people would be munching on these tins.

Monday night we were all digging into these tins. YUMMILICIOUS!

Tuesday morning B2 woke up in excruciating pain at 5am. Hugging the trash can and running for the toilet!!! Poor guy. I slipped him a Zofran to help! Zofran is a miracle drug! Unfortunately he threw up right after it started to dissolve on his tongue.

I figured a tummy bug and was all freaked out. Spraying Lysol on everything he touched. Even Lil O would tell B2, “Don’t touch me!” I cringe when I have been exposed to a tummy bug. I cannot think of anything I hate worse than throwing up.

I kept B2’s diet restricted all day Tuesday, not allowing him to have anything sweet for fear he would throw up again.

Wednesday rolls around and we were chowing down on popcorn after dinner. Do you see where I am going with this?

Thursday morning B2 wakes up sick again! Awful pain. Rolling all over his bed. I was sad for my son.

There is something on/in the popcorn that doesn’t agree with him. Perhaps some preservative. NO MORE POPCORN FOR B2!!! It hasn’t bothered anyone else. This makes his sisters Lil O and H happy because that means more popcorn for them. I haven't touched the stuff since, it freaks me out!

Has this happened to anyone else????

B2 missed two days of school because of the reaction THEN it snowed and both B2 and H missed school on Friday! Shockingly I am still sane and madly in love with my kids. :)

Okay, moving on.

Things I have watched this week:

-We finished The Prisoner DVD set. Don’t bother getting your hopes up about this great ending because it isn’t happening! I’ll be nice to say it SUCKED!!! I am mad about how it ended. Pretty lame.

-Rita Rocks on DEMAND. There was one more on there I hadn’t seen.

-By Any Means. Charley Boorman’s Show. LOVE IT!!!!

-Grey’s Anatomy. To which I think they are making Izzy lose her mind!

-Life on Mars. Why do I get sucked in???? IT BETTER END DIFFERENTLY THAN THE BBC VERSION!

-The IT Crowd is back!!!!! WOOHOOOO!!!! Is it plugged in? Do you have it turned on? I blogged about this before and think you should FIND THIS SHOW! I love BBC sitcoms!

Thanksgiving is 5 days away. Are you ready? I have only a few more things to purchase. Like fresh corn, cream and things I cannot remember at the moment.

I have a list of things that I can prepare the day before the big meal.

Wednesday- Prepare the sweet potato casserole up until adding the pecan topping.

-broccoli casserole up until adding the cracker topping.

-deviled eggs (maybe)

-sweet tea

So Thursday I can get up before the crack of dawn, shower, put on my sexy lil apron and do this:

-cook two homemade pumpkin pies

-cook the turkey, make the dressing and gravy

-cook peas

-finish making the sweet potato and broccoli casserole

-make the yeast rolls

I’ll be taking pictures of each dish to share with you! Hopefully you will want to try one of the recipes. I’d be happy to share!

Kids Searching Safely Online

I recently found out about a survey that Glubble and Highlights did on children surfing the web safely. You can read about it here.

~Someone at Glubble asked me to write something about Internet safety for their site. When this is posted on their site you know YOU will be the first to know.~

I put some thought into this topic and wanted to share with you what I came up with.

Keeping Our Children Safe While On The World Wide Web

There are one or two computers in most homes these days. And most children want their own laptop and cell phone. With so much adult content available on the World Wide Web it is our duty as responsible parents to know what web sites our kids are visiting and who they are talking to. I want to protect my children from uncontrolled exposure to grown up topics like sex and drugs. These are subjects that should be learned about in the proper environment when the time is right, not from a Google search.

While planning a family vacation not long ago we did a simple search for “Disney”. A word associated with family fun brought up a naked woman with Mickey Mouse painted on her body. Guess what body parts were his ears. This shows how fast things can get x-rated.

Here are some practical tips we use in our home.

* Have your computer in a common area. Ours is in the office which is viewable by everyone in the living room. In my opinion, a bedroom is no place for a computer that has internet access. I feel the same way about TV’s too but that is a different topic altogether.

* Set a time limit for computer usage and STICK TO IT! Don’t let the whining wear you down. You are the parent and ruler of all! On school nights each child has 30 minutes of fun free time on the internet. On weekends they are allowed more time. This limit doesn’t include time spent on the computer for homework or school projects.

* Learn how to limit and/or block access on your computers. (How you do this depends on what operating system or browser you use.) Our children have to ask permission to gain access to new sites by sending me an email. I can check out the site they want to visit then unlock access to it or block.

Even sites like “YouTube” and “Google” are blocked. Remember my Disney fiasco using Google?

* Keep track of passwords. If my children want to join something, like the popular social networking site MySpace, I must know their password. Because they know I can pop over anytime to review their online activity they make more responsible decisions.

* Manage these social groups carefully. My children aren’t allowed to talk to anyone unless they know them in person. Their profile must be kept private, only for family and friends (that I approve of) to view. And no posting photos until they are approved by us.

I really don’t care how good you think you look flashing that silly gang sign. It’s not going to be your profile picture.

All of the suggestions above work really well for our family. With everything now available at our children’s fingertips it is our responsibility to keep them safe.

Does this make me an unreasonable parent? No, it makes me a responsible parent.

Are my children missing out? No, they are given a safe environment to learn and grow.

If you have internet safety suggestions please email me at Iheartsupermom@aol.com and I’d love to share it with my blog readers.

No, we don't want the funk
Give up the funk
NO, we don't need the funk
We have the funk....

B2 woke up with a tummy bug. You know what that means! Yep, you guessed it. Hugging the trash can and running to the potty! ~spraying lysol~

Be back when it's safe.

Motrin just BIT themselves in the ASS.

I have carried all FOUR of my children. It's not a fashion statement.

BREAKING NEWS! Local Mom goes on STRIKE!

Will her family meet her demands????

In our interview this morning with Supermom she seemed a bit distracted. Baby M was screaming in her bouncy seat and Lil O was playing dress up. Supermom was sipping on her coffee trying to wake up.

This is what Supermom had to say,

"I am on strike. I don't ask much around here. Put YOUR own clothes away. Make sure YOUR dirty clothes find the laundry basket. No SHOES worn upstairs. Basically I just want my family to clean up after THEMSELVES. I have to remind the kids that I just live here and I am NOT THE MAID!

I have mentioned before that I don't unload the dishwasher or wash windows. It's just not my thing. That's why the windows are filthy and the sink is full of dirty dishes.

So, as of now, no cooking, cleaning or laundry until the dishwasher can be unloaded in a timely manner. THE MOMENT THE LIGHT COMES ON."

Our cameraman offered to unload the dishwasher for her since she was obviously distraught about the situation.

There you have it. Will Supermom make her point or will she hire a MAID?

Adding to Thanksgiving

First purchase: $24.40

Today: $40.00

= $64.40

**In this new price is a turkey thermometer. I killed mine over the summer and needed a new one. Yes, I said NEED. No one wants to get sick from RAW turkey!**

Things I got sucked into this week:

*Top Chef ~The Season Premier

*Grey's Anatomy

*Life on Mars ~I was really digging this show UNTIL I found out how the BBC version ends. If you don't want to know THEN YOU BETTER NOT LOOK!

*Jon & Kate plus 8 ~Well, this is Lil O's favorite show these days. Thank goodness you can DEMAND them.

*The Prisoner ~We are still working on that DVD set. 2 more to go!

*The Secret Lives of Women ~It was about body builders. Those were some rock hard women!

*The Graham Norton Show

*Rita Rocks ~I was able to DEMAND the first 6 episodes.

*The Soup

Poptarts, Pudding, Banana Chips and Crispy Cat Candy Bars

$197.30 was the total. **Note: This is all organic food purchased at Earth Fare.**

I tried really hard to not IMPULSE BUY! I did rather well. It was Lil O who did the most damage.

Impulse Buys:

Pop tarts (Lil O)
Pudding Mix (Me, it was on sale BTW)
Banana Chips (Lil O)
Snack Bars (Lil O)

Total: $18.16

Baby Food: $5.34

For Thanksgiving Meal: $24.40 I even have my Turkey Breast reserved for the big day.

The receipt is broken down into sections.

Grocery Section. Which includes the impulse buys, pasta, can goods, tahini, popcorn and crackers to name a few. $19.90 The most expensive item was the Sesame Tahini at $6.99, for my homemade hummus.

Cheese. I only bought one kind from the cheese counter. Manchego Raw Milk for my Tuna Pasta. $6.82

Frozen. Yes, I did buy frozen waffles. Two kinds. The are an easy fix for breakfast for the kids before school. Ice Cream Sandwiches. Pie Crusts! They taste JUST AS YUMMY AS HOMEMADE and convenient. That's what I love about them. $19.85

Produce. Tomatoes, Spinach, Onions, Garlic, Lil Potatoes and Apples. $19.90

Bulk. Granola Maple Cereal and Banana Chips. $6.34

Meat. $17.97

Dairy. Sour Cream, Cottage Cheese, Whole Milk, Cheese Slices, Shredded Cheese and Butter. $23.93

Bread/Bakery. Tortilla Shells. English Muffins. Buns. $12.05

Money I saved by buying on sale or using a coupon. $10.21

So the moral of the story is to LEAVE LIL O AT HOME. She is the impulse buyer in the family I appears. :)

I am on Blogged.

Entertaining and enjoyable to read!

I recently posted about this great offer that came to me one day.
Phillip Done sent this lovely email about sending me a copy of his book to read and review on The Adventures of Supermom. FANTASTIC!!!!

Guess what came in the mail yesterday?

I even mentioned passing the book to a reader of mine when I was finished. Well, I have changed my mind. Because

He signed it for me and included this great message. Since I have decided to keep the book given to me by Phillip Done I have included a link to Amazon so you can get your own copy.

I am going to start the book today and look forward to writing a review about it.
